HISTORY OF THE PLACE: around 60 years ago this was a blacksmith specialized in horse shoes. It is said that the mother of the blacksmith (or maybe it was the wife) began serving a bit of homemade food so the clients could wait comfortably. But the cooking was so good that people started visiting the place for the food. It was a little building and it still can be seen; when you go inside, is the bar area including the kitchen.
Review of the palce I'm a local. This restaurant is, perhaps, the one that all the locals from Mallorca know about. They serve traditional Mallorcan food at an unbeatable price, perhaps the cheapest you will find in all Mallorca. You can go have "breakfast" or lunch. The food is really good, but of course don't expect a fancy restaurant. Even though the restaurant is really big, they'll serve you really fast. For breakfast I recommend the "pamboli" of quails, and for lunch, a tapa to share of snails, "arròs brut" as a first and any second you feel like having (lamb is quite good). Just be aware that this is LOT of food. All servings are big. I usually order a tapa to share, a dish and a dessert. Last time I had the homemade carrot cake and it was delicious. Finally, be aware that you'll find a big waiting line! Try to...

I visited this restaurant yesterday with my whole family, and it was an experience we won’t forget. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this wasn’t your average polished, picture-perfect dining spot—it was something far more honest and visceral.
At the heart of the place is a massive open fire with a grill that’s constantly alive with sizzling meats. The smell alone sets the tone for a rustic, true-to-its-roots meal. The food is traditional Mallorcan—hearty, simple, and full of character. No fuss, no over-decoration—just down-to-earth, countryside dishes that speak for themselves.
This isn’t the place for delicate plating or modern gastronomic flourishes. It’s for those who want to taste the island’s history in every bite. It’s not for everyone, and that’s part of its charm.
Despite the restaurant being quite large, the service is impressively efficient. You’re seated and served quickly, and the staff seem to know exactly how to keep everything moving without making you feel rushed.
In short, if you’re looking for a raw, authentic Mallorcan food experience that doesn’t try to impress with appearance but wins you over with soul, this place...

One of the highlights of our meal was the generous portion sizes. The dishes served at Es Cruce were notably large, ensuring that we left the restaurant feeling satisfied and well-fed. However, while the portions were ample, we found that the flavors of the food were somewhat lacking in depth and complexity.
On the plus side, the prices at Es Cruce were surprisingly low, especially considering the portion sizes. It's a budget-friendly option for those looking for a hearty meal without breaking the bank.
Despite the average quality of the food, the restaurant was full during our visit, indicating its popularity among locals and visitors alike. The bustling atmosphere added to the overall dining experience, creating a lively ambiance.
