Hotel Restaurant Hostal del Carme — Restaurant in Vilagrassa

We visited here for lunch on our way to Barcelona. We were directed to sit at the bar with a mixture of other customers. We did not receive a warm welcome and one waitress was very unfriendly with us. Despite ordering the same food as other customers ( in perfect castellano but not catalán ) our food had smaller portions ( no potatoes and less meat). Our food also took longer to arrive. While all other customers had their dishes served pleasantly on nice plates with napkins underneath ours was shoved in front of us without. We were told that there wasn't basic cutlery available to us ( like steak knives or small spoons) only to then watch the customers on either side of us receive them without asking.

We have lived in Spain for over 15 years and have spent the last two weeks travelling all over Spain. This is the first time we have ever received such poor treatment.

The restaurant is well located and has a beautiful interior , it is disappointing that it treats customers...

Some parts are dated, but everything was immaculately clean, and the beds were incredibly comfortable with crisp, fresh linens. The bathroom had been recently renovated and was spotless. We thought about heading out for dinner but decided to stay in—and it was absolutely the right choice. The food was far from diner-style. Yo estuve ayer,comiendo con una amiga. Bueno,lo de comiendo es un decir,porque yo me deje 2/3 de los platos y ella la mitad.Cuando ella es de las que se come sus platos y se termina lo que yo me dejo,siempre. Yo me pedi Trinchat,que no estaba hecho con la col que corresponde,(la de brotes verdes),sino con oja blanca de col normal y con aceite refrito y requemado. Ella una fideua,lo unico comible,quitando que al añadirle el all i oli,la estropeo,pues sabia mas a vinagre que a ajo. Yo de segundo me pedi pechuga de pollo a la brasa,ya que se venden como que la brasa es algo tipico del restaurante,pues de a la brasa nada. Venia encharcada en aceite de oliva,eso si,muy bueno para una ensalada,pero de sabor a brasa,nada. Ella se pidio un revuelto de calamares con patatas y alcachofas.Pues era como un pastizal de salsa espesa,con cuatro colitas de calamar,nada de alcachofa y una patata gorda troceada,ademas de dos trozos gordos de mas patata de guarnicion,con un puñadido de menestra hervida de bolsa congelada,que tampoco sabia a nada mas,que el tipico chorro de aceite. De postre,crema catalana supuestamente casera,con sabor a natillas de sobre. Me pedí una Coca-Cola light,me dijo que no habia,que tenia que ser cero y al final me la trajo normal,sin ni siquiera servirmela en una copa con hielo y limon. Ahí,con el mismo baso que habia en la mesa. Y el pan recuperado y reseco.

Todo 34€ y ni siquiera en el restaurante,sino en las mesitas de al lado de la barra,ya que en el restaurante vale 29€ por menu,bebida aparte.
