Restaurante La Cueva — Restaurant in Villadiego

Wowsers..! We live permanently in our motorhome, touring the world. This has to be the best value for money and nicest food we've had so far. We found a table and were immediately attended with a tablecloth and served with bread and the menu choice. The menu del día was €16 per person. We each had a spaghetti dish for first plate, which was a meal in itself. My husband had Peppers stuffed with meat and a tomato sauce for second plate and I had chicken breast with cheese sauce, together with a serving of chips. We both had a Lipton iced tea to drink. For that price we could also have had a desert or a coffee, but we had to decline as we were so full. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The lady in the main restaurant was more than happy to show us a booklet and explain about their beautiful sculpture in the restaurant, made by Oscar Martin of Burgos, who frequents the restaurant and about her son who is a chef. On the wall are photographs of Julio Iglesias (Singer) and Benicio Del Toro (Actor and Director) taken during their visit. We can't recommend this place enough. Village in the middlle of nowhere so book in advance if going on a weekend. We didnt but got there just before 2pm on a Sunday for lunch and got the last table for two. Many people were turned away afterwards with no reservation. The food is typical country food, but very good. No prices on the menu, but inexpensive. Service was friendly and efficient. If I am in the area I would go again for sure. My wife had the pate and then Oxtail, both of which she said was tasty. I had the peppers stuffed with seafood and the offal stew...

Fuimos a ver el campeonato de España de caza con perro y cuando llegamos fuimos a desayunar, nos gustó el desayuno y decidimos reservar. No nos decepcionó para nada cuando nos pusimos a comer, uffff una cantidad de comida elevada y muy rica. Tiene un comedor bastante grande, un bar con pinchos bocatas para desayunar, también tiene para echar las primitivas por si se te an olvidado o quieres jugar a la lotería como hicimos nosotros. Le veo un PERO, en mi caso, soy persona con movilidad reducida, tiene muchas escaleras, tanto para entrar al bar que ha 5 o 6, subir al comeros que hay otras 5 o 6 y la más problemática la del baño, que tendrá como 9 o 10 estrecha y bastante empinada, para mi es un pero el tema de las escaleras, pero ese día, el dueño o gerente del restaurante en ese momento metió una silla de ruedas asta el comedor no se si por fuerza o porque tiene otra alternativa para subir las sillas, por lo demás es un sitio de parada OBLIGATORIA si pasas por esta zona ya que merece la pena.
