I spent a month in Arugam Bay as a solo traveler and digital nomad, and when the new Gypcey Lounge opened, my experience took a turn for the better. The delicious, healthy local food they served every day was fantastic, and the fast, reliable WiFi made it a perfect place to work. The community at Gypcey was great, offering fun activities like trips to natural parks and surfing lessons that really added to the experience. Gypsy Lounge is not just a cozy place to hang out – it’s also a great co-working space. The atmosphere is calm and focused, with no music playing, which makes it ideal for getting work done or holding video meetings. The Wi-Fi is fast and stable, even with video calls, and there are plenty of power outlets available.

The selection of food and drinks is impressive, offering both variety and quality. One of the highlights is the open kitchen – you can actually see how your food is being prepared, which adds a nice personal and transparent touch.

Good for Gluten free/ coeliacs. Mubarak and his chef team were really friendly and helpful, and checked over my Tamil/Sinhala coeliac card carefully before making me a delicious chicken salad dish.

Nothing on the menu is marked GF, but there are a few good options that are or can be adapted to be GF. Mubarak said he is happy for his chefs to custom make a dish to make sure it's safe. The chef also came over and went through all the ingredients to check it was all ok for me.
