🍴 Review — Thalapakatti Restaurant, Wattala Thalapakatti in Wattala delivers a strong dose of South Indian tradition with a Sri Lankan-friendly touch. It’s not your everyday eatery—it’s a place where biryani lovers and spice-seekers can feel right at home. We tried a few highlights: Cheese Chicken Kottu – A creative twist on a local classic. The sizzling kottu carried that familiar street-style aroma, but the cheese folded into it added a creamy, indulgent finish. Comfort food made richer. Crispy Chicken – Exactly what it promises: a golden crunch outside with tender meat inside. Lightly spiced, it worked perfectly as both a starter and a side. Fresh Juice – Refreshing and honest—made with real fruit, not artificial syrup. A small detail, but it elevates the meal and balances the heavier flavors. Beyond these, the restaurant is known for its signature biryanis made with seeraga samba rice, ghee rice combos, parottas, and a wide selection of traditional curries and starters like Chicken 65, Mutton Sukka, and Pepper Chicken. It’s a menu that blends comfort with authenticity, offering both familiar Sri Lankan-friendly plates and true South Indian specialties. Other Indian Traditions on the Menu: As part of the broader Thalapakatti lineage, their Wattala branch also offers an array of renowned South-Indian and Indian staples. The following menu glimpses reflect the wider culinary repertoire they typically stock: Biryanis • Signature Chicken Boneless Biryani — aromatic seeraga samba rice slow-cooked with spiced chicken. • Paneer, Mushroom, Veg, and Plain (Kuska) Biryani options served with raita and salna Combos • Ghee Rice with Chicken, Fish, Mutton, or Veg — quick satisfying meal bundles. • Parotta paired with Chicken, Fish, or Veg options—great pick for bread lovers. Soups • Hot & Sour versions (chicken or veg), Chicken Milagu (pepper), Mutton Milagu, Veg Rasam, Sweet Corn Chicken, and more. Starters & Appetizers • Deep-fried classics like Chicken 65, Gobi 65, Paneer 65, and Black Pepper Chicken. • Specialties such as Mutton Kola Urundai (spiced meat balls), Kal Kozhi, Porichadu chicken, drumstick chicken, Manchurian varieties, and more. Curries, Kebabs & BBQ • Pepper Chicken Lollipops, fish fries, prawn sukka, drumsticks, and other skewered or fried delights. Bread, Egg Dishes, Rice & Noodles, Desserts, Beverages • A full kitchen—expect parottas, egg starters, noodle and rice dishes, classic South-Indian desserts, and beverages. The space is clean, service is efficient, and portions feel fair for the price point. It’s an easy stop for families, friends, or anyone craving hearty Indian-style food along the Colombo–Negombo stretch. ✅ Verdict Thalapakatti Wattala is where rich biryanis, playful kottu variations, and crispy starters come together under one roof. Whether you go for a quick bite or a full meal, it’s a spot that promises warmth, flavor, and but portion is small and overpriced.

Very bad experience in service. We ordered food and wait for long time to get. And the stater was come after the food, and the drinks we got everything done almost we plan to leave. The guy who takes our order he doesn’t have any manner he doesn’t know how to treat the guest. And i ask him about the delay he sow his face not apologize. And my mom was asked masala dosa don’t have, and my brother ask boneless mutton buriyani and they said don’t have for that we feel disappointed. Only one good things the food was good. We enjoy well.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant, and I must say, it was truly one of the nicest dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I arrived, everything from the ambiance to the food and service was top-notch.

First and foremost, if you're on the lookout for authentic and flavorful biriyani, look no further. This spot is undoubtedly one of the best biriyani destinations in the area. The rice was perfectly cooked, the spices were well-balanced, and the meat was tender and rich in flavor. Every bite was a burst of traditional taste, clearly made with care and quality ingredients.

One thing I truly appreciated was the ample parking space available right in front of the restaurant. In a city where parking is often a headache, this was a refreshing bonus and made the entire visit hassle-free from the start.

The service was equally impressive – the staff were courteous, attentive without being intrusive, and always ready to help with menu recommendations and other requests. They were genuinely welcoming, which made the whole dining experience feel warm and personalized.

Perhaps one of the highlights that sets this restaurant apart is the atmosphere. The dining area is peaceful, tastefully decorated, and provides a calm and quiet setting that’s perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions. Whether you're dining as a couple, with family, or even colleagues, the serene environment is ideal for enjoying a meal without any unnecessary noise or rush.

Overall, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious biriyani, great service, and a relaxing, enjoyable dining experience. This restaurant has certainly set a high standard and it’s a spot I would happily...
