​I recently decided to give Tick's another try after many years, and sadly, one of my main past complaints resurfaced: the portion size. ​I ordered the Nua phad nam man hoi (wok-fried beef with oyster sauce), and the serving was noticeably stingy. It was small enough that I half-joked to myself that the person who boxed my food might have swiped about 10% before handing it over! While most takeout spots, in my experience, really fill those boxes to the brim—even if sometimes they're overly heavy on vegetables and light on meat—Tick's didn't even attempt that illusion. ​However, the meal wasn't a total loss. The Gai chup päng thad (fried chicken) was genuinely a bright spot. While the coating had a darker hue that suggested the kitchen oil might have been ready for a refresh, the flavor itself was outstanding.
