I really would like to rate this place better because the staff was extremely friendly, the atmosphere is great, and the place is spotlessy clean (and the restaurant is fantastic - I review this separately). However, the rooms facing the street are simply not suited for sleeping. I know that the Gasthof was there before the street became so busy and noisy, so I feel bad for the owner, but the windows are also from premodern times, and that is simply not acceptable with the current levels of street noise. They have to be updated. ||||So unless you are an very, very heavy sleeper, you are left with only a couple of hours of sleep as the traffic winds down an hour or two after midnight. The church bell right on the other side of the road won't wake you when it starts at 5 AM because by that time, heavy truck traffic has already picked up again and made sure that you might as well give up trying for the night. ||||My rating would probably have been four or five stars if we had had a room that didn't face the street. So this place can only be recommended if you make sure in advance that you'll get a room that doesn't face the street. So I'm giving it a two-star rating since after all, it was clean and friendly, but for the room itself, 1- star is more...

Read moreSpectacular stay in a sweet, authentic little Swiss village! Amazing homemade breakfast served with a lovely cappuccino sporting a cute little smile on top. Local cheeses, yogurts and meats. Fruits both fresh and dried. Scrumptious homemade muesli. Our room was on the second story street side and our windows opened above window boxes of red geraniums. The beds where made up with lovely linens. Our very favorite place to stay on our whole trip, in fact we compared all other stays with this one and they all fell short. We want to go back to Switzerland just to stay here. The staff was very sweet and offered great assistance in our travel plans. There is a lovely Italian restaurant about 2 blocks away. On our walks around town we went past beautiful home gardens and goats wearing bells. The most special place in our hearts in all of travels through-out Switzerland. Don't miss a trip to Mount Pilatus...
