This is really a motel and not practical for traveler's using anything but a car. It is within a few minutes by car to Avenches which is known for its Roman ruins and museum. Although the hotel uses the word "lake" in French in its name, there is no lake to be seen from the hotel. The view is unspectacular unless you enjoy green fields. The room was utilitarian, but clean and functional, and most importantly, quiet. A single booking here will get you a single bed which could be a bit of a surprise for those used to king size. I booked it because I had tickets for Opera en Fête and it was the last place I could find in Avenches. I barely even looked at their website.||Imagine my surprise when I get to my room - cozy, clean, and efficient, with a BALCONY that overlooked a POOL! I was so lucky I threw my bathing suit into my bag at the last minute.||All the staff were lovely and the bread at breakfast was amazing!||I had no car, so I used the bus to get into Avenches - there's a couple buses an hour, but they stop pretty early in the evening.
