Autogrill Restoroute de Bavois — Restaurant in Bavois

A really nice motorway service area north of Lausanne. You have to go down steps to get into it but it is clean, roomy and has a good selection of food and drinks but can seem a little expensive. There is a really nice patio area to sit out at although this is the smoking area. I have been here several times and never seen it really busy. Good toilets but they have recently started charging for these ( 1 CHF) but you can recover this when buying a drink or food. There is also a lift to get down to the restaurant and toilets if you need it. The lift is next to the panoramic viewing area. The restaurant is on the south side only but it is easy to cross over the bridge in your car if you are heading north. You can park and walk across...

On the way to France we stopped here quick. We've been here before and knew what to expect. It's a pretty nice located and organised Rest Stop with Restaurant and a BK, Shop, bathrooms and a fantastic view. The restaurant is ok, but prices could be lower. BK is BK, you know what to expect. The bathroom costs...but at least you can use the ticket to get a discount at the shop, so it's not too bad.

Pets are allowed in the restaurants, which is a plus.

Outside there's lots of parking and also some green areas, in case your pet needs a break as well.

When heading to (or through) France, this is always a good option for us, sometimes for a quick bite. But this time just for a bathroom break and quick shopping...

INHUMANE FEES for toilets at the Autogrill! It is 1Swiss Frank for each person in our 4-person family. Signage does not clearly explain that you first pay for toilet, THEN keep ticket and use ticket as a coupon when you buy something at the shop/food. (All of which is VERY expensive) I only deciphered this bcz I heard the word "debit" from the cashier at the shop speaking french. If you run a rest stop, you should calculate into the cost that everyone who stops there will likely need to use the bathroom. Alternatively, there is a nice row of bushes in front that provide privacy if you really need to go 😂 OR the gas station has toilets for free and they are clean. Just get your gas and...
