Schifflände — Restaurant in Birrwil

I am not rating the hotel nor the restaurant but only the waiter with the Robbie Williams tattoo on the arm, who worked in the restaurant on July 13th 2025 between 15:30 and 16:15h, the time me and my girlfriend arrived at the place. We were very well welcomed by the Staff and instructed to seat anywhere we wanted. The restaurant was somewhat busy but there was plenty of free tables. As we arrived by motorcycle, we had our helmets and jackets in our hands, for this reason we sat at a table for 4. We didn’t mean to be impolite or rude, or take advantage of anyone but we wanted to be comfortable as, there was plenty of free tables to chose from and there was no people queuing outside. We sat down and waited for someone to attend us. The waiter with pop star tattoo arrived and after greeting us started to separate the two tables and literally “told” us that “two people seat on a table for two” and said in a very pungent tone: “remove your things, if you would be so kind. It is Sunday if you noticed, and there will be a lot of people coming”. He didn’t excuse himself for not allowing us to leave our things, he didn’t take our order. Then He simply left.

I am a very flexible person. If I would notice a great affluence of customers arriving, I would immediately reduce my comfort to allow others to seat down. I think this should be taken into account and asked kindly, not given for granted. And most importantly, not said in a sarcastic tone. Especially when all this great number of customers is simply not happening. So the waiter found and solved a problem before the problem even existed. I felt as he didn’t care about my comfort and joy to be there. Maybe he didn’t mean it, I can’t know for sure. I felt unwelcome. I felt disrespected. So I’ve found another place and sat at a 4 table enjoyed the rest of the afternoon. I wish the Robbie Williams fan the best and to gain a bit of caring for the work he has. It’s very...

A nice place that is let down by the lack of attention to detail. They come across as mainly focussing on the restaurant while running a boutique hotel on the side. The hotel rooms are modern and well equipped but we didn’t like the laundry and cleaning equipment that littered the hallways and communal spaces (as per the pictures). We were particularly let down with our dinner reservation. As a family of 4, we booked 2 rooms for a CHF600 overnight stay weeks in advance, so that we could have a CHF400 waterfront birthday dinner - which we explicitly requested at the time of our hotel reservation - except that the restaurant seated walkin customers at the waterfront and seated us at the back next to the door & dish rack 🤬 So, it’s a fancy place in a nice spot but absolutely tone-deaf when it comes to good service for hotel residents. Totally ruined a CHF1000 night out 👎🏻👎🏻 The food is also a mixed bag - while the prawns were good and the desserts were great, I got the most unimaginative ceasar salad ever, which was served warm, no dressing, no parmesan, just plain bland 👎🏻👎🏻 Great views of the lake but service and attention to detail should improve at their price point - make sure you get what you...

We had a breakfast today morning. I’ve ordered an Salmon Avocado bread and a Sunny side up with Rösti. Avokado bread was okay but missed the “love” of the chef. Such a bread is made by every houswife at home… they make it with even more love. Simple, without fantasy. From a restaurant i excpect something more. The sunny side up: one egg was fully destroyed and the the egg yolk was well done. The other egg was half baked and the egg white was transparent and jelly. The Rösti: was far to way salty and too much pepper in it, it was crunchy only on the edge but the middle is half cooked. It was a very sad meal. My husband ordered a scrumbled egg and french toast. We recognized that the kitchen used a prepeared egg mixture and not fresh eggs. It had a weird texture (some water was swimming under the scrumbled egg) and had a strange aftertaste. The french toast looked promissing with the Brioche but one of the worst i ever tried. Terrible taste. Not even tried to make it taste better with some vanille extract or sugar. Bleh…
