Our recent visit to Restaurant des Pleiades left me with mixed feelings. The restaurant promises a breathtaking experience with its unrivaled location offering panoramic views of the Alps and the lake. The scenery was spectacular, a perfect backdrop for what should have been a delightful meal. However, the beauty of the setting was overshadowed by the remarkably poor service we received.

The staff, although not busy, seemed disoriented and sloppy. As time passed, it was evident that both the chefs and the two waiters were drunk, which greatly impacted their professionalism and efficiency.

Our order was taken after half an hour, but the food never arrived. We watched as other diners experienced similar neglect, with many expressing frustration. Conversations with fellow guests revealed that no one had received their meals even after multiple hours of waiting.

The situation reached a point where, after a two-hour wait without any food or a reasonable explanation, we decided to leave. It was disheartening to see such a lack of management intervention or any attempt to rectify the situation. The potential for a lovely dining experience was completely lost to poor staff behavior and a lack of oversight.

My worst Swiss experience, after calling this country my home for 9 years. I was tu ère with my husband and our three teenaged children. We are Swiss, we speak French, our only sin I feel was that we have briwn skin color. We were very very visibly discriminated against. We stood there waiting to be western, but only upon asking after 10 mins, they said yes ok sir at the corner table. Then for the next 30 minutes no one came to bébé give us the menu. I saw 3 more tables get occupées during this time, they were given menus and their orders were taken. I called the lady who was serving these tables gently— and she said yes, yes (oui oui madame) but never came to us for another 10 minutes.

By this time even our daughters were getting angry so we decided to just buy them Ice creams from the freezer and go back. When we were paying for the ice cream, I told the man at the payment counter how disappointed I was that we could not eat there. He practically shouted at us saying “yes it’s ok, we are busy”. I told him I saw them serve people who came after me and walked out. The lady who had promised to come to our table was smoking outside and chatting happily...

The service was awful. We waited more than 40 minutes to be served. No smile, no gesture, nothing… even if the restaurant wasn’t complet. The food was good (we order röstis), although a little salty and greasy. Mineral water pet bottle of 1.5 = 10.00.- is that normal? If it was glass, I could still understand but pet?! The view is amazing but the restaurant… could be...

Bon c'est sur que le sentier raquettes de nuit aux lanternes, sans la neige dans le brouillard ça le fait tout de suite moins. Reste le restaurant et la fondue. Nous sommes un groupe. Et là, pas si sympa que ça le gérant. On avait droit à un verre de bienvenue mais nous n'avions pas compris que c'était un vin chaud à la sortie du train. Le gérant ne nous propose absolument rien d' autre...répétant en boucle que c' était le vin chaud! Ok. Pas un petit chocolat? Pas un café? On est 21 quand même. ...niet. Raide comme la justice de Berne. Fondue: il y a toujours un convive qui veut des pommes de terres à la place du pain. Niet. Absolument pas de pommes de terres. Franchement le bistrot est plein....ca coûte si cher que ça de cuire un ou deux kg de pommes de terres en robe des champs? Surtout que le plat à choix c' est....des rostis ! Ah ben.....ils sont maison? Bref. Fondue quoi. Et voilà. Mais moi pas sûre d' y retourner.

The food is delicious, especially the fondue. The view is obviously extremely beautiful as you can see with the pictures. The restaurant is easily accessible with the train that starts all the way down in Vevey (Around 20 minutes total)

Et une fondue est arrivée, alors que nous avions commandé des röstis. Nous avons attendu encore une heure pour enfin avoir nos röstis. L’ambiance était très tendue entre les erreurs de commandes, la lenteur du service, nous avons vu plusieurs clients partir avant l’arrivée de leurs plats.
