Unprofessional service and greedy management

Stopped into this restaurant with my wife and child today for a light meal after a hike and we had a terrible experience.

We ordered a mixed salad, a sandwich and rösti with bacon and cheese for lunch. The salad came already seasoned with one of the ready-made dressing you often see in nordic countries even if I didn’t ask for a dressing or specify which one we wanted (In Switzerland you can usually ose between Italian dressing, French dressing or oil and vingar). I politely asked to make a new salad as my wife is usually allergic to these seasonings but even if Switzerland is the richest country in the world, they apparently couldn’t afford to make a new plain salad. At first I had to speak with a waitress who could only speak German and despite telling her I didn’t speak the local language she kept on engaging nervously with me for a few minutes. Then another waitress came at us (which luckily spoke english) and told us it was basically our fault with the dish since it’s customary in Switzerland to have salads come to table already seasoned. We told her we live in Lugano (CH) and we usually receive plain salads when eating there, but the waiter insisted that this is ghe way swiss people serve salads (like Lugano isn’t in Switzerland too…) and she had to ask the her boss. She later came back and confirmed that if we wanted another salad we would have pay extra for it. As a funny note: when I told the waitress my wife was allergic (and it’s only her) they brought the dish in the kitchen and never brought it back at our table again.

Never really had an experience like this in another civilized country before, and I can’t really recommend a place like this to anyone.

P.s. the rösti we received was terrible, with undercooked potatoes and overwhelming oil grease coming out of the potatoes. Left the dish almost untouched at the table...

What a great experience to be able to eat with such an amazing view in front of us looking down from the mountain.

It was the cheapest place we had a beer all of the time we was in Switzerland at 6.50CHF so I was extremely happy about that.

I ordered Pork schnitzel with fries and veg. The pork was nice, the fries was how you would expect but I'm sure the veg was frozen but still tasteful enough.

The portion sizes were big and very fulfilling.

The scenery is stunning especially in the winters when the sun is out. In winters, sun is hidden behind the hill by 2:30 PM, so plan early.

Sun bathe on the wooden loungers, take a cold beer or hot glühwein and simply admire the stunning surroundings. Their pommes frites are finger licking good. They do a special mix of herbs & spices.

The hanging teddy bears are a load of cuteness! Kids, especially daughters, love it! The snow is ample, you could ski or simply have fun...
