Ristorante Funivia Serpiano — Restaurant in Circolo del Ceresio

This is a lovely little resraurant that we have visited on every one of our four trips up Monte San Giorgio. Of course there is the stunning view that would, on its own, be enough to warrant a visit. But more than that, we really liked the food (simple, reasonably priced and nice selection) and absolutely adored the service! I personally have never felt more welcomed nor been treated with more kindness and joy anywhere than I have at Funivia this spring of 2023 (all previous years were very lovely also). Lage, Lage, Lage! Mit dieser Aussicht über den Lago di Lugano und heute Fernsicht sogar bis hin zum Dom, Alphubel oder Fiescherhorn ist der Hauptgrund für einen Besuch schon genannt. Um diese Jahreszeit vermag die Sonne die vordersten drei Meter der Terrasse gerade noch zu erreichen. Dahinter wird es schattig und entsprechend kühler.

Der Service ist aufmerksam, speditiv und recht freundlich. Bis hierhin war alles wunderbar.

Die Speisekarte ist erfreulich abwechslungsreich und hielt auch für uns (wir essen kein Fleisch) genügend tolle Alternativen mit Fisch oder vegetarisch bereit. Die Preise sind sehr moderat, die Portionen genügend (für Vielesser vielleicht etwas knapp) und die Präsentation vermochte auch zu gefallen. Geschmacklich war der Risotto allo Scampo ok - mehr nicht, aber auch nicht weniger. Schade war hingegen, dass die beiden zubereiteten Teller offenbar schon lange zum Service bereit standen. Als sie dann zu uns gelangten, war das Essen nur noch lauwarm. Die Polenta-Sticks zur Vorspeise hingegen fand ich sehr gelungen. Und so nebenbei erwähnt - das Brot war knusprig und geschmacklich ausgezeichnet.

Ich werde sicher wieder hierherkommen, um etwas zu trinken. Vielleicht auch wieder für eine Portion Polenta-Sticks.

Übrigens: Als Alternative zur Anreise mit der Seilbahn (Brusino - Serpiano) kann man auch mit dem Auto, Velo oder zu Fuss von Meride her kommen. Es hat mehrere Parkplätze auf der Strecke, so dass man die Länge eines Fussmarschs recht gut differenzieren kann. Ein Grossteil der Strecke verläuft im Wald und...

We arrived in a rainy day and we were very kindly welcomed. There was nobody at that time in the restaurant and we were served quite fast.

The food was good and the view incredible! But we mostly remember the very sweet waitress with the piercings who was very friendly, helped us protect our bags of the rain and lend us an umbrella. When we met her again the following days, she was still very open, friendly and helpful, thank you for that!

The only bad point is the annoying oldish music. Please change...
