came to this grotto 45 years ago for the first time and have been back many times since.
we were excited to return for lunch this week on a cold and rainy day to see what the current owners offer. so glad we did as everything was absolutely perfect! we started with a delicious mixed salad that included some fresh seasonal ramp leaves and, on the owner's recommendation, a tripe dish, which was just like my mom used to make - hearty, tender and full of tomato-y flavor - yummy!
we then each had osso buco with porcini risotto - couldn't have been better - i still dream about the bone marrow! heavenly! we both enjoyed a typical boccalino ticinese with a rustic local red, which hit the spot!
this super tasty meal, a nice chat with the owner, and a one of a kind setting made for a very memorable experience! the outdoor area with the creek and watermill is a dream setting for a meal on a balmy night! if we still lived in europe, we would be here all the time! bravo - we'll rush back as soon as we can!
