The food tasted delicious. Both starters were a treat for the palate as well as for the eyes. The Mains were also very flavourful, the fish was magnificent, the lamb extremely tasty and tender. The veal filet was a bit overcooked and to be honest, very small for that price. The sidedish for the veal, the "Auberginenauflauf" was heaven. Overall: Taste 5* (except the veal 4* for the well done) Presentation 5* except the veal (3*) But there was one big no-no: We received a gazpacho as a greeting from the kitchen and my friend's wife had a piece of glass in the soup and fortunately bit on it before she swollowed it. We showed the glass piece to the service team and asked to investigate where it came from, if something broke and contaminated the soup, some other guests might get seriously injured. They nodded and took it away but didn't follow up. After we finished with desserts and Grappa, we asked for the bill. Only after we asked again, while we were about to settle the bill, the service Chef came with an adjusted bill, apologizing for not coming back earlier, as he was busy. If we wouldn't have asked they would have ignored such an significant issue, potentially harming my friend's wife or other guests. Overall the service team needs some more training. This is a place for people wearing socks and shoes on the beach, something we didn't realize because we started dinner early, at 6, when only a few diners were seated. Food was just ok, and prices old fashioned high for their mostly older clients. Service is a major problem here. We were ignored, maybe due to the language problem, as all of the waiters except one spoke just Italian to us, and maybe because one of us was wearing shorts, who knows. Anyway, we decided to leave before dessert. The extra star is for the view, which is excellent. You'll have more fun and a welcoming staff at Albergo Carcani a bit further down the promenade, which is where we had a nice dessert. ENGLISH: Great dining experience with beautifully presented and delicious dishes. The atmosphere is cozy and well-curated, perfect for a relaxing evening. The only downside was the presence of wasps that swooped in on the meat at the table, causing some discomfort. The service is impeccable: friendly, attentive, and always available staff. Prices are a bit high, but given the beautiful location just steps from Lake Ascona, they are justified. Highly recommend trying this restaurant: approved !

GERMAN: Schönes kulinarisches Erlebnis mit leckerem Essen und ansprechend präsentierten Gerichten. Das Ambiente ist gemütlich und liebevoll gestaltet – ideal für einen entspannten Abend. Einziger Minuspunkt: Wespen, die sich auf das Fleisch am Tisch stürzten und etwas Unbehagen verursachten. Der Service ist hervorragend: freundliches, aufmerksames und stets hilfsbereites Personal. Die Preise sind etwas hoch, aber aufgrund der tollen Lage nur wenige Schritte vom Lago Ascona entfernt, durchaus gerechtfertigt. Absolut empfehlenswert: Daumen hoch !

ITALIAN: Esperienza culinaria piacevole con piatti ben presentati e gustosi. L’ambiente è molto accogliente e curato, perfetto per una serata rilassante. Unico neo, la presenza di vespe che si avventavano sulla carne al tavolo, creando qualche disagio. Il servizio è impeccabile: camerieri gentili, attenti e sempre disponibili. I prezzi sono un po’ alti, ma considerando la splendida posizione a pochi passi dal lago di Ascona, sono giustificati. Consiglio vivamente di provare questo ristorante: approvato !

FRANCAIS: Belle expérience culinaire avec des plats bien présentés et savoureux. L’ambiance est chaleureuse et soignée, idéale pour une soirée détente. Le seul bémol, la présence de guêpes qui s’attaquaient à la viande sur la table, créant un certain inconfort. Le service est irréprochable : personnel aimable, attentif et toujours disponible.
