something as terrible has never happened in my entire life. i went to eat there today. when i got there, the waitress/owner? didnt greet me,but was on the phone i think booking a table for someone. normally i wouldnt care but she didnt even show me to wait a second but had this look on her face as if i was interrupting and was just unwelcome. but thw comes the worst part. i asked for a table for one and was sat by the table for 4 people. i asked about the soup of the day and she said sth like, i dont know,i have to check but gazpacho probably. then comes this couple to have their dinner. there are plenty of free tables,it wasnt at all busy,it was right after 6 p.m. so i have my backpack beside me and my sunglasses on the table too. the waitress comes and asks me which part of the table i want. i didnt understand at first but then she says that the table is for 4 people and i have to choose. well,i didnt see that coming. i said right and so she sits the couple that came right beside me,with no privacy left for either of us. again, there are plenty of free tables,ours is probably only one of the 2 or 3 that had any people sitting beside them. and then the waitress just shows the couple the seats beside me at the same table and she takes my backpack and puts it on the ground by the chair i was sitting in and then she takes my sunglasses and puts them by the empty plate...! i was in deep shock and horror seriously i wouldnt make a big deal about it if she just asked me to move my stuff, explain politely what the trouble was...i would understand. but she was trying to squeeze people in like sardines for no apparent reason, was simply rude and extremely unwelcoming. so if you can only avoid the place,please do. i wouldnt come back even if i was about to starve to death and i mean it. ive travelled a lot and still do for work,im a journalist travelling from film festival to film festival,just came for Locarno festival. so i dont really expect much,try to stay optimistic and keep an open mind. i would never ever expect to be a part of something like that and in Switzerland,of all countries....

To sit close to the Pizza Kitchen is understandable, as single without reservation. That I accidentally have seen the Truffles Menu, as the waiter almost passed me, but stopped and shows me the menu because I catched his view, feels Like second-class as single, but still, OK. I never saw the wine menu, which is a pitty. Everyone simply passed, no chance for that. That made me start with the pizza without anything to drink. The Pizza with Salmon and shrimps was really nice. Here as well: no pepper, no chilli oil. I know Monika now, even I never met her, but her name was present all the time - in a good way. Friendly and efficient service. Reasonable prices except fo they offer a big bottle of water for chf8, which is overpriced. Quality of steaks are good although some of them can be ordered not less than 900g, which usually can be eaten by a group of at least for people. All in all a recommendable place to have dinner in Ascona

We have been in this restaurant multiple times. In the previous times it was agreeable. Tonight we were served by a stressed and arrogant German waiter, very unfriendly. After bringing the wrong order he came back with another wrong order and threw it literally on the table. We felt that his rudeness had a sense of hidden racism. We definitely will not visit this...
