Ristorante Riva — Restaurant in Circolo dell'Isole

An all-around great restaurant - make sure to book so you can get a spot directly at the lake, but the interior is beautiful as well. Service was incredibly helpful and accommodating all evening (and also multilingual). I started with a scallop ceviche which was good (very refreshing, and I'm usually not too big on scallops) but the portion may have been a bit small. The spaghettone "Cacio e Pepe" with tuna was wonderful, not too heavy on the cheese but actually very fresh with the contrast of lemon and the raw tuna. The first highlight of the evening came in the form of the fritto misto: perfectly fried, with zucchini strands, delightful aioli, crispy fish and squid, prawns and anchovies, it was pure perfection and maybe the best I have ever eaten. Infelizmente não tive a melhor experiência. Visitei o restaurantes por ter boas revews mas fiquei imensamente decepcionada com o atendimento ao cliente. Para começar, esperamos mais de 30 minutos pela entrada (enquanto vimos outros pratos serem servidos em diversas mesas que chegaram depois), em segundo esperamos novamente 30 minutos pelo prato principal, que não chegava. Questionamos o empregado se estaríamos esquecidos, ao que ele respondeu prontamente com uma resposta afirmativa mas nem sequer fez um pedido de desculpas. O meu prato foi deixado na mesa do lado, na qual foi levado por engano mas o cliente disse que não se importava de ficar com ele, e ninguém deu conta do engano ou pediu desculpas pelo erro. Aguardamos por mais 10 minutos até chamarmos novamente o empregado e pedirmos a conta, uma vez que não estávamos dispostos a esperar mais. Outros 10 minutos de espera é nem comida, nem conta para pagar. Até que por fim chamamosnoutro empregado de mesa que também não entendeu o que lhe estávamos a explicar e mostrou alguma resistência em chamar o responsável do restaurante que apesar de ter "oferecido" os pratos principal no caso de querermos ficar uma vez que estavam finalmente prontos, mas na verdade não se mostrou realmente incomodado com a reclamação sento até um pouco arrogante quando negados ficar por já termos perdido a vontade de ali ficar. É triste ver locais que até têm boa gastronomia serem engolidos pela cede do turismo desenfreado e que nunca mais voltará a comer no mesmo local em vez de bem tratar os clientes independentemente se serem ou não turistas.

Before we sat down, we spoke with an employee, from the table area by the lake, who told us to sit at any table that did not have the "reserved" notice, on the terrace next to the entrance of the restaurant, which we did. In second place, we asked three times to make the bill to pay for what we had consumed and leave after more than 30 minutes of waiting between the starter and the main course, and you were insisting that we wait, so I said that if they didn't bring the bill immediately I would leave without paying anything! I think that all the customers sitting next to us heard and understood well what actually happened. Once again it is regrettable your attitude as responsible for a restaurant with food that seemed quite interesting to me, despite not having been able to enjoy the dinner I expected. This was our second time visiting Riva. We went here the first time on our last holiday in Ascona, and it was even better the second time around! Lorenzo was our server and took excellent care of us!! The food was delicious!! If I could give more stars then I would for the food & service & atmosphere. If you're planning a trip to Ascona, make sure you have dinner here! The fish was chef's kiss! The dessert was amazing! The view of the water and Ascona is unbeatable at sunset.
