Very much a restaurant where style is way more important than substance. We were seated without any explanation of the online menu process (great for COVID and saving paper, but we were left wondering where the menus were). Waited for service, as various staff came and went, very focused on tables with 4 or more occupants. No really good restaurant would allow staff to cluster so obviously around the larger groups. Waited. No menus, no explanation, no eye contact, nobody asked about drinks, nothing. Was anybody assigned to our table? Waited. 15 minutes in, a chap in a very smart jacket finally broke away from the “big table herd”, and I flagged him down to introduce him to the basics: still the same need of some kind of menu and perhaps, dare I say, a drink or two? Apparently we should have known about the online menu system, perhaps by telepathy...? Anyway, that bit sorted out, bar code provided, phones duly swiped and tapped: eventual food looked truly lovely, tasted only very average indeed. Wine waiter: older, more experienced, knew exactly what he was doing. Staff need to be more like him. In all: most firmly NOT worth the money. There are many excellent restaurants in the area, less stylish, but if you like really good service and tasty food, elsewhere is most firmly where...
Read moreWe wanted to spend a nice evening with our friends in this restaurant. The menu is too complicated and although we had 3-4 waiters around us, we didn't get any food recommendations. We ordered 2 different courses as intermediate course and both tasted the same. The wine recommendations were terrible as well. The chef asked us how the food was, I honestly tried to explain to him that the portions were too small for the price charged, he explained to me how they calculate portions, they made no effort to compensate us and to top it off our vegan colleague was laughed at by the waiter. They didn't have any vegan food for her. In the end when we asked for the bill, we had to wait for half an hour to get the separate bills. As this is a luxury restaurant, we had higher expectations. The interior is very nice, but the food was...
Read moreThe food was okay. I first ordered the carbonara — it reminded me of American cheese, and we all know how that tastes. Also, you used whole wheat pasta, which is not to my liking. I get the innovative approach, but please don’t ruin carbonara.
Congrats though: the Tagliata was really, really good — and so were the potatoes, too.
Now, I don’t know what you served me in the name of tiramisu, but I was quite surprised. There was no coffee in it, the biscuits tasted like nothing — were they soaked in tap water? Also, I don’t think there was any mascarpone, just whipped cream, as far as I could tell. I don’t know what you were going for, but this had nothing to do with tiramisu. It tasted like whipped cream and water.
The service was nice — long wait, but always friendly. And the view...
