Grotto franci — Restaurant in Circolo della Rovana

Lovely surrounding and mood. Unfortunately, price and quality didn't match - a sausage with some potatoes for 18 CHF. 4 ribs for 37. A unmotivated salad. Good fries, though. A couple of options were sold out already by 6.30 p.m. We had to wait almost 1 1/2 hours for our order to arrive. Oil/vinegar/sauces were served in satchets; not something I'd expect at these prices. Friendly service, clearly they were overwhelmed tonight.

This was the third restaurant we visited this week in this area, and everyone in our group agreed then it was the most expensive one, and while it was very atmospheric, both price and long waiting time "cost"...

Das Ambiente ist wirklich einmalig aber… wir waren zu fünft da und das Grotto war nicht voll. Es hatte z B Tische für 8-10 Personen an denen nur 2 Leute sassen. Trotzdem wollte man uns abweisen wegen zu wenig Platz. Wären wir doch bloss gegangen! Als wir dann unseren Tisch hatten haben wir bestellt. Es war etwa 8 uhr abends. Wir haben also 4 vorspeisen bestellt. Der Salat kam als erstes… der wurde gegessen, brot gabs keins dazu. Ca 45 min später kamen die anderen 3 vorspeisen mit brot + eine hauptspeise, aber nicht für die mit dem gegessenen salat. Als alles fertig gegessen war warteten wir eine stunde auf die restlichen 4 hauptgänge, die servicedame kam an den tisch und meinte das es keine polenta mehr gebe und ob stattdessen der Haxen auch mit Risotto gegessen werden kann. Ja klar. Risotto war sehr fade, der Haxen zäh. Die bestellte fade Polenta gabs aber übrigens noch mit Käse. Hmmm komisch. Wir waren sehr enttäuscht! Wir hatten Kinder dabei die sehr viel Geduld haben mussten mit hungrigen Bäuchen! Ich warte gerne auf gutes Essen und zahle auch gerne dafür, aber das geht gar nicht!! Leider kann ich nicht 0...

Afternoon visit. Even though promised at the phone full service available incl outdoor grill, this was not so plus menue was reduced. Also staff started cleaning the stone tables which is not just all pleasant to watch or smell. However besides this we had a good time. The charme of the place will probably shine...
