Café de l'Union — Restaurant in Crans (VD)

I’ve been there at several occasions , business lunch and private dinner. I always had a good experience until last time.

the potatoes were tooooo salty. Uneatable!!! I asked my friends to try and none were able to eat them. When I shared this problem with the “garçon”. He told me he was sorry I was not appreciating the food done by the chef … but this was my problem !!!

then I ordered some cheeses. I got an horrible bread. It was falling into pieces ( probably frozen). I asked if the bread was frozen , or from yesterday. The “garçon” told me the bread was fresh from the day. I cook bread for more than 15 years … No way a baker will ever bake such disgusting bread 🤢

I don’t know what has changed there …. But they should admit when they’re doing something wrong. I’m ok to pay an high price , but I’m expecting quality food and in case of problem ( it can happen) a solution .. not such answers. Not planning to go...

I had the "plat du jour" which was a beef bourgonion. I also asked for an entree which was a cabbage soup. The beef was cooked slowly and for long hours and it was tender. It was plenty. It was served with some vegetables and potatoes paste. It costs like 25 chf. The waiter was nice and the service was fast enough. I was in the garden but the inside also had a very nice cosy and classical atmosphere. I recommend for both...

Beautiful atmosphere in a small and cozy outdoor terrace. The inside of the restaurant also seems quite nice , but we went for lunch on a beautiful day and the outdoor area was ideal for us. It was pretty full, but we were able to quickly get a table. Service was friendly and quick. Food is prepared with very fresh locally sourced ingredients. Highly recommend this little gem of...
