We were looking for a reasonably-priced hotel centrally located between Zurich and Geneva, and the Hotel des Alpes in Dudingen came up on a search site. They responded promptly to our initial e-mail with rate and availability information. We had to phone to confirm the reservation (French and German spoken only).||||The hotel is conveniently located in the town of Dudingen, just off the E27 highway a few km NE of Fribourg.||||On arrival Monday afternoon the Hotel was completely closed, but they had left our keys in a mailbox outside (had to ask another guest about this). Our rooms were on the 1st floor, and they had set up a 3rd bed in one for our kids as asked. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, newly remodeled. No telephone, but TV and free WiFi were available. Ample towels and bedding were provided.||||The location is a bit noisy because of the main street (Hauptstrasse) on one side and railway freight depot on the other, but it did not keep us or our kids awake.||||Breakfast was included, and was excellent. It included fresh croissants, bread, cheese, ham, salami and an assortment of condiments and drinks.||||We stayed there again for one night at the end of the week on our return trip and had a similarly positive experience. This is a small hotel (8 rooms only!) with a courteous staff and good service.||||The only hesitation I would have in recommending it is that the staff really don't speak English, so you should be prepared to communicate in...

Read moreWe were traveling with another couple and reserved 2 rooms with balconies. We stayed in rooms 123 & 124 for 3 nights. The rooms were spacious and clean. In the late afternoon and evenings we sat out on the balcony enjoying the setting sun and the amazing views. A musician was playing not too far away which added to the perfect ambiance. I can't say enough about how beautiful it was. The hotel is centrally located, a 5 minute walk from the train station and local sights. Lots of restaurants in the area. Breakfast was very good but service a little testy when I tried to pour a cup of coffee from a pot that was still brewing despite my apologies. One night it was a bit loud on the promenade below and since we had the balcony door open for the cool breeze we got woken up a couple of times but it was not too bad. We could have closed the door. I would...
