Basic but with rustic charms and reasonably priced. When I arrived there were a few locals hanging out here and there (as if waiting for something), a table of four actively playing traditional Swiss Jass card game with an actual slate for keeping score. Out on the terrace which has a view to the ski lifts in the distance, there were four or five couples enjoying their retired years, ideal for this unhurried restaurant. However when I came to order… I was told the kitchen was overloaded by this small crowd of eight (8) diners, that they were out of what I ordered and any other order would take a considerable time... I am pretty sure he said they are overloaded. I wonder if I offended the gentleman server by ordering tap water on arrival, as he gave me an odd look, and it never came. I was dressed in cycling gear. But this is bike country and another couple came in bike gear too. It could be in the summer months where they like to take it easy and don't like to have to rush. Or something else? I may have done something wrong is my sense... Next time I will book ahead of time. And try my luck again. Basic typical Swiss menu (pork cutlet, Schnitzel, fondue and raclette a-go-go, alpe macaroni, the usual Swiss sausages, and accomnimeny if chips or rösti. Also a range of salads and fitness tellers....) Or you can go in to the big expensive tourist restaurants at Artzmännig and pay ten to twenty francs more per head. A lot of picnicking around here in summer the slides and high ropes at Artzmännig a good attraction for families! Back to the dining room: Has a charming little dining room which looks like it is set up for the local joddling club to come for its annual supper, with traditional mural. You get the idea! Basic ultra Swiss basic country eatery. I didn't try English or French and doubt it's of...
Read moreGreat cordon blue and all homemade rosti. The service was a bit patchy to begin with with the host being busy but he made up for it with his lovely charm! For dessert we had the local flan cake, also homemade on the same day, is a must try! Can recommend if you're after a wholesome swiss meal with very...
