Restaurant Chinois Golden Dragon — Restaurant in Forel (Lavaux)

Disappointing experience. I have been to this restaurant multiple times during the last two years and each time it was absolutely great. However this time our experience was 90% negative. For starters we have ordered different dumplings, soups and spring rolls. Dumplings didn’t taste great, especially the shrimp ones, crab soup was nice, but Tom yum tasted like there was vinegar inside. Our friends that ordered spring rolls didn’t eat more than a bite as they were dripping oil. For main course we took duck, crispy beef, shrimp noodles, and beef with basil sauce. Apart from the duck, everything else was worse than we remembered from our last visit. As an example, noodles were super thin and they didn’t absorb the sauce. Previously they were different and tasted much better. Same goes for the rice, it seemed they changed the rice or went for a pre-cooked option which doesn’t taste good at all.

We were quite surprised by this experience and at the end of the dinner asked the staff if they changed their chef or if the owner changed but the gentleman said that he was the owner and nothing changed since ages. We told him that the food tasted different but he insisted that everything was the same.

The "sur ardoise" meat meal was not served as announced but as cut meat. The "hunted meat" small pieces were good, but it was not a "sur ardoise" service. 42.- per person dor this is a rip off. Moreover the chestnuts were not cooked enoufh and impossible to enjoy with the meat. When we asked the owner why it has been served this way, he didn't let us explain and got angry at us immediately. Just don't choose the "aur ardoise" meals. Too expensive, not...

En cette froide soirée d'automne, nous décidâmes, pour nous remettre du baume au coeur, de commander du poulet croustillant ainsi que du boeuf à l'ail, dans l'espoir de trouver un réconfort dans la nourriture et de nous réchauffer le moral. Nous fûmes, mes amis et moi-même, servis tel des suserains et nous nous sustentâmes de tous ces délicieux mets avec la plus grande joie. Les portions étaient vraiment abondantes et généreuses, nous eûmes l'impression d'être des templiers faisant ripaille avant de partir en campagne. Pour terminer, je me permettrai d'ajouter que je recommande ce restaurant! Cet avis est d'autant plus légitime, car mes amis et moi sommes aristocrates et critiques gastronomiques sur yelp.
