Inselwirtschaft Ufnau — Restaurant in Freienbach

We got treated to this restaurant by a client that was very excited about the place. Thursday evening after a hot summer day at work (no Aircon), we really deserved a good experience (group of 12). The ride to the island was short and sweet. It is beautiful to explore but we were starving. The restaurant served food on the day only outside and rightfully so. The tables are in the shade of a giant fig tree with views of lake, mountain, vineyard and church on the hill. It was picture perfect with cooling evening weather to match. I read map reviews complaining on the service. For us, on this day it was faultless. The huge menus came out with cold water instantly. We ordered few of the recommended starters to share and within 10 minutes these were coming out. Beer and wine kept coming on time. The starters were excellent and between the fried fish, sushi, salads, meat and cheese (yes, plus two pints of beer), I could skip the mains. Still, the schnitzel was hard to pass. Probably the largest I ever had. Not sure how I coped with that (I am shamed to say I cleaned the plate with effort). Overall a fantastic experience. The overall atmosphere is very casual and rustic including the tables, plates etc. Toilet also houses separately from main building (not clean). The prices are on the other hand very "fine dining". I guess if I had to pay instead of the client, i would be less forgiving.

Recommended if the weather is good and you don't mind paying a little extra for the view and...

We frequent since years this Island by boat and are almost daily customers at Restaurants of Peclard during the saison. This Restaurant which belongs to the catholic church of Einsiedeln, was taken over by Peclard aswell. Quality of food went definitely down. And compared to 2024, now the service and the quality of the food went even more down. Some employees seem to be hangovered and in a bad mood. This time, one of our group ordered "Chickenwings all you can eat" - he got a little basquet, and for the second round it took ages and they brought him only 5 little pieces.. "Questioned about, the answer was: "If you can eat more, I will bring you more - We are coocking anyway more for our personells lunch" Also to mention, that the quality of those imported chickenwings is quiet low, not to compare with the swiss chicken that they also offer. You would better remove that from your menu, if you anyway dont want to keep up your promises and quality. The 3 Stars are for the beautiufl...

A gorgeous place to visit BUT not to eat! Too many people and very poor service!

The food took more than 1 hour to get the food and even if the waiters are friendly this is not acceptable for families. Half of the drinks never arrived ; including 30 minutes to get a bottle of water in a very hot day !

The food is just standard but not great and also and the price is Swiss so expensive ! 100 CHF for a potion of chicken nuggets , fish and chips and a vegetarian cake with salad . Water and two glass of prosecco ? One never arrived

Recommend to go for picnic to the island and if not people try the great apple cake but don’t ask for more food ! You will not get it on time !
