Berghaus Elsigenalp — Restaurant in Frutigen

simple hotel in a great location - right on the pistes. Although the ski area is quite small it's perfect for families or those learning to ski, with enough red/black slopes and snow parks to keep more experiences skiers happy for a weekend. The babylifts are right outside the hotel and the cablecar station is about 200m walk, so easy to get to with bags etc. We booked a 4-bed room for the same price as we would have paid in a dormitory in other places. The room was simple but clean with great pillows and duvets (feather) and had a washbasin (showers and toilets on the floor below - spotlessly clean and we never had to wait). The only disappointment was the breakfast - there were lots of lovely local products available for sale in the cablecar station but breakfast here was prepackaged cheese and jam and some bread...i would have loved some local cheese or homemade jam or a nice birchermuesli. Perfect for a weekend...

Bisher haben wir das Berghaus Elsigenalp gerne besucht und sind auch gerne einmal für eine Nacht geblieben. Die Zimmer sind zweckmässig eingerichtet und das Essen typische schweizerische Küche. Für einen Aufenthalt alles perfekt. Nun hat der Pächter gewechselt und die Preise zunächst stark nach oben geschrieben. Für eine finanziell durchschnittlich aufgestellte vierköpfige Familie wäre damit die Übernachtung aus unserer Sicht unerschwinglich geworden. Auch die Leistungen des Berghauses standen unserer Meinung nach überhaupt nicht im Verhältnis zu den neuen Preisen. Trost war nur, dass die Dame, die die Stornierungen entgegen nahm, sehr freundlich und verständnisvoll war. Deshalb zunächst ein Stern in der Rezession. Einige Stunden später kam dann ein Telefon von den neuen Pächtern. Diese zeigten sich sehr interessiert am Austausch, begründeten den Preisanstieg mit dem vermehrten Verbrauch von regionalen Produkten statt Discounter (Bravo!) und versprachen die Preise nochmals gut zu überarbeiten, so dass der Aufenthalt gerade für Familien erschwinglich bleibt. Wünschen für den Startprozess...
