Rigi-Burggeist — Restaurant in Gersau

The Burggeist is one of our favourite spots in the Rigi, located on the Southern side of the mountain and easily reached by taking the 535 bus and then the tiny cable car. Both the restaurant and the guesthouse are welcoming. The food is traditional and - thankfully - a little less expensive than elsewhere in the Rigi. In summer, the large terrace offers a breathtaking view of the Central Alpine panorama, including a glimpse of the Bernese Oberland in the far distance. The Burggeist is also a central junction for hikers as several trails cross here. In winter, the Burggeist folks even operate two ski lifts (one for small kids and a longer T-bar giving access to an easy (blue) family run and a longer one bringing you down to the cable car again). We chose this location for our wedding in order to share the ultimate swiss experience with our guests. What can I say, it was perfect! The hosts are very welcoming, the food is delicious, the cocktails are super well made and the whole ambience of the place is awesome! You have a magnificent view all over Switzerland and you sleep in cosy beds with a full 3 course dinner and breakfast for very reasonable prices. Since the entire place was booked for us and our guests, we could party until late and it was UNFORGETTABLE. I highly recommend the place and the hosts for any event you may have. Vorabinfo: Es besteht anscheinend ein häufiger Wirtswechsel im Restaurant Burggeist, so dass hier explizit erwähnt werden sollte, dass die gemachte Erfahrung von anfang April 2021 datiert.||Auf einem Spaziergang auf der Rigi Scheidegg kehrten wir im Burggeist ein. Gleich am ersten Tisch am Eingang stand der Wirt am Tisch und unterhielt sich angeregt mit einem Gast. Beim Eintreten hat uns der Wirt kurz angestarrt, hat uns nicht gegrüsst und machte auch keine Anstalten, sich um uns zu kümmern. Auch nachdem wir 10 Minuten am Bestelltresen warteten, nur 5 Meter vom Wirt entfernt, sprach dieser seelenruhig mit dem Gast weiter und ignorierte uns komplett. Gleichzeitig sah uns eine Serviceangestellte warten, trocknete jedoch in aller Gemütlichkeit Gläser hinter dem Tresen ab. Ein Kind, welches anscheinend zum Restaurant gehörte, jagte zudem ihrem Zwerghasen draussen auf der Terrasse zwischen den Gästen und dann später drinnen im Restaurant hinterher. Der Käfig des Hasen befand sich gleich neben der Haupteingangstür, inkl. Napf mit Wasser und Futter. Hygenisch-gesehen ein absolutes No-Go. Als auch nach weiteren 10 Minuten sich niemand um uns kümmerte - nicht einmal ein "Nur noch 2 Minuten, es ist gleich jemand bei Ihnen" - verliessen wir unbedient das Burggeist.
