Hotel Restaurant Adler — Restaurant in Glarus Süd

I wanted to thank the owner (Peter) of this lovely hotel. Myself, my husband and 4 other friends were hiking a portion of the Via Alpina from Weisstannen to Kandersteg and found this hotel online. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. But my main comment is about how wonderful our host Peter was to us. After a long day hiking we came in a bit later than we hoped and likely seemed like a herd of dirty, tired buffalo! But Peter and another employee were kind and efficient and sorted out our check-in into 3 rooms most graciously. |At dinner time, prior to ordering, we specifically asked if their restaurant charged for water as we had an unexpected and large charge of CHF 5.50 at a pizza place in Elm for a glass of water. There was water everywhere flowing down from the mountains in torrents, so that shocked us. (In Canada we are not used to being charged for water at all.) Also their beer was only CHF 5.80! Peter was also shocked that anyone would charge for water as Hotel Adler did not do so and he actually thought this was gouging and a bad way to treat tourists!! |Our dinner was amazing and he checked personally to make sure that all was good. Then when we asked if it was possible to have lunches made for the next day (which we were quite willing to pay for) he set about making them, even when he should have been quitting work for the day. Way above the call of duty!! Then he refused to take a payment from us, as an apology for the water incident that happened to us at another restaurant...WOW!! |We were blown away by your caring, kindness and generosity. Thanks Peter :) We would highly recommend this lovely hotel in this quaint and gorgeous town of Linthal. Too bad we could not...

Ich habe kurzfristig eine Unterkunft für zwei Tage gesucht und wurde im Hotel Adler äusserst freundlich empfangen. Der Check-in war innerhalb von fünf Minuten erledigt, und mir wurde gleich ein Kaffee angeboten – ein wirklich sehr angenehmer Start.

Leider konnte ich aus zeitlichen Gründen die Küche nicht persönlich testen, aber nach allem, was ich in den Rezensionen gelesen habe, habe ich damit sicher etwas sehr Gutes verpasst und werde das bei Gelegenheit nachholen.

Ich habe mir auch die negativen Bewertungen angeschaut, kann mich davon aber ganz klar distanzieren. Während meines Aufenthalts kam zum Beispiel eine sehr grosse Gruppe an, und der Gastwirt hat persönlich geholfen, die Koffer ins Haus zu tragen. Ich habe ihn nie unfreundlich erlebt. Auch das Personal wirkte auf mich in einem guten und gesunden Arbeitsverhältnis, und selbst die Reinigungskraft war ausgesprochen sympathisch und nett.

Die kurzfristige Verlängerung meines Aufenthalts wurde morgens um 6 Uhr ebenfalls problemlos und sehr zuvorkommend innerhalb von 30 Minuten organisiert — dafür nochmals ein grosses Dankeschön.

Insgesamt kann ich dieses Haus nur weiterempfehlen. Es war ein tolles Erlebnis, und ich komme...
