Alten Kanzlei — Restaurant in Greifensee

From a traveller's first look of a welcoming cottage, this hotel looked very beautiful and utterly warm! And it certainly did & would feel that way as well, once you stay here. The owners & the staff were warm to all their guests & foreigners - (Except for one of the staff members who portrayed a mild sense of aversion that was based on our ethnicity. Well, I best leave it at this statement, trust me I could very well elaborate and explain that disgraceful situation a colleague and I went through by this person.)||||I'd also like to specially mention that the staff did maintain their warm-heartedness towards us when we encountered a bad experience at another place in Switzerland.||||All in all, the place is beautiful, the rooms are lovely and they have a great restaurant place that can serve so so many (Impressive)! However, it seemed to me that they would need to brace up on some professional ways such as offer some good solution for guests who cant speak the local dialect or themselves master English; also, be quick & effective in dealing with the usual hotel-related problems (Eg: loss of hotel keys etc.)||||I'd happily recommend this place to anyone making a stop-over at Greifensee! What a terribe attitude at this place! Five minutes after my order arrives, the waiter comes up and literally yells 'Hurry up!!! The rain is coming!!' and disappears. So then I figured i better move to a covered area, which I did by myslef, noone from staff cared enough to assist. I finished my meal, then the rain finally came, I was just sitting there looking at nature minding my business, he comes out and yells again 'go in or go away cause i want to roll back the rain covers'. Seriously? Screw the customer, you wanna roll up the covers cause god forbid they get wet? They already were wet, and thats what theyre there for: to cover! Wanna chase out the people inside as well cause you wanna turn off the heating too? Terrible experience, ruined the otherwise lovely lake hike. Go to the other side of the lake, theres a much nicer restaurant there. Avoid this overtouristified stuck up attitude...

Seit nun schon einigen Jahren fahren wir gerne quer durch die ganze Stadt Zürich um dieses sehr schön gelegene Restaurant, das von einer Familie geführt wird, zu besuchen. Hin und wieder sieht man noch den Senior, der immer für ein Späßchen aufgelegt ist und für sein Alter sehr aufgeweckt wirkt und einiges aus diesem Restaurant und den anderen dazugehörenden Gebäuden gemacht hat. Absolut vorbildlich ! Der Sohn ist auch ab und zu im Service anzutreffen, der übrigens wirklich ausgezeichnet ist. - Den Service meine ich - Ein sehr großer und vom Hintereingang bestens erreichbarer Parkplatz gehört zu diesem Restaurant und im Sommer gibt es sogar gedeckte, schattige Parkplätze, direkt am Eingang. Vom Parkplatz her kann man gut in die Küche sehen, die anscheinend auch gerne mit gutem Gewissen gezeigt wird. Die Speisekarte ist derart ausführlich, wie ich kein einziges anderes Restaurant kenne die nur annähernd eine so große Auswahl zu bieten hätten. In all den Jahren die wir dort essen gehen, haben wir uns unterdessen kreuz und quer durch diese Speisekarte gegessen und so können wir mit wirklich gutem Gewissen sagen, noch nie irgendwie oder irgendwo mit irgendetwas angestanden zu sein. Bis anhin waren sämtliche Speisen qualitativ wirklich sehr gut und einwandfrei und wie bereits erwähnt, ist der Service wirklich erstklassig, wo sich so manch anderes Restaurant etwas abschauen könnte. Schön auch wieder einmal ein Restaurant anzutreffen das einen Teppich hat, der wiederum einiges an Schallschutz beiträgt um es ruhig bei einem guten Essen angehen zu können. Ein Restaurant dass man jedes Mal froh ist dass nichts verändert wird und man es wieder genauso antrifft wie man es das letzte Mal verlassen hat nämlich heimelig, gemütlich und einfach angenehm.
