Restaurant Schwägalp — Restaurant in Hundwil

Sadly had to visit this place for the third time now, when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, they did. There were a series of avalanches coming down from the mountain, so the police insisted that everybody should stay inside. We just had food outside on the terrasse 20’ ago, and we went to sit down in the indoors-section. Not even 1’ later we were greeted by an unmotivated waitress to pick up an order. We didn’t want anything, we just wanted to sit down and assess the situation a little bit (sadly, someone passed away due to the avalanches). The waitress didn’t seem to care and said we could only sit if we ordered something. Absolute disgrace, honestly. Someone just lost their life, and this waitress sends away people (who were customers 20’ ago), so people can have a coffee..review from one year ago - Very disappointing, because the location and setting is amazing. We recently visited your restaurant with a large group, hoping to have a nice meal together. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to sit at a proper table — we were told the seats were reserved. Instead, we were placed in an uncomfortable corner room that was tight and unpleasant. I mentioned in advance that we would only stay for about an hour, and in fact, we left even sooner. During our entire visit, the main dining area remained nearly empty.

There were free tables, yet we were not offered to sit there. Outdoor seating was also available, but it was far too cold to consider. What made it especially disappointing is that my family had just arrived from a very distant country — everyone was tired and hungry. I was truly sorry that we had to sit in such poor conditions when it seemed like there was room to accommodate us properly.

We were told that the hotel was fully booked and that this was the reason they couldn’t seat us in the main area, but from what we saw, there were plenty of available tables. It’s very unfortunate — we expected more thoughtful...

Terrible service.

We could see an outside seating area, so asked a waitress how to get to it. She bluntly replied "you can go through the glass." Then she said "what way did you come in?" before carrying on with what she was doing.

We sat down (inside) and after not being acknowledged for around 15mins, my elderly mother waved towards a waitress for attention. She mockingly waved back and shouted that she was starting somewhere else then muttered to herself. No apology for the wait, smile or courtesy. She just needed to say "I'll be with you shortly".

The place is clearly understaffed by people who don't want to be there and don't care about customers. We left at this point...
