Beautiful view of the Lake Gruyères from the terasse. Nice and quiet location to have a meal or ice cream on beautiful days. As for food, it was OK but not exceptional. We had the "Chef Surprise" as appetizer. It was tasty but not worth the price at all in my opinion (22CHF!). I had the beef entrecôte, it was overcooked compared to what I asked ( I asked bloody but was medium borderline well done), however the meat was tender and I still enjoyed it. My girlfriend had the cuchaule burger which was tasty. The homemade fries were very good, crunchy and not oily. The vegetables were enjoyable with a curry mousse. Homemade cake as dessert was nice as well. One thing to note is that some of the beef comes from Uruguay, which is not really acceptable for a Swiss restaurant. Switzerland has enough beef not fetch it from the other side of the world.

L'Unique is a wonderful place to enjoy Lac de la Gruyère. The wooden chalet has a spacious terrace, where you can have a magnificent view of the picturesque marina and the large lake. The terrace is tastefully decorated with comfortable chairs and tables. The drinks are refreshing, and the charcuterie and Gruyère cheese are delicious. The service is friendly and attentive. There is parking available within walking distance of the chalet. L'Unique comes highly recommended for anyone who loves nature, tranquility, and delicious food. ---- L'Unique is een geweldige plek om te genieten van het Lac de la Gruyère. Het houten chalet heeft een ruim terras, waar men een prachtig uitzicht heeft op het pittoreske jachthaventje en het grote meer. Het terras is gezellig ingericht met comfortabele stoelen en tafels. De drankjes zijn verfrissend en de charcuterie en Gruyère kaas zijn heerlijk. De bediening is vriendelijk en attent. Er is parkeergelegenheid op loopafstand van het chalet. L'Unique is een aanrader voor iedereen die houdt van natuur, rust en lekker eten.

Je suis allée à l’Unique, un établissement grand et réputé, en m’attendant à une expérience à la hauteur de sa renommée. Malheureusement, la réalité était bien en dessous de mes attentes. Dès le début, j’ai été surprise d’apprendre qu’il n’y avait pas des glaçons disponibles — un basique pour un restaurant de cette taille. Les cocktails, en plus d’être mal préparés, manquaient aussi de soin dans leur présentation, ce qui a enlevé tout leur charme. Le service n’a pas amélioré la situation : les serveurs semblaient peu motivés et pas très sympathiques, ce qui a clairement influencé l’ambiance du repas. Pour couronner le tout, deux Coca-Cola que nous avions commandés ont été oubliés et ils ne acceptent pas de payement par Twint. Le seul vrai point positif reste la nourriture, savoureuse et bien réalisée, mais qui a été éclipsée par les problèmes de service et de boissons. Un restaurant aussi renommé et bien installé devrait absolument revoir la qualité de son service et soigner les détails qui rendent une expérience vraiment mémorable.

I have been here many times, the last time was a great disappointment. I ordered the Beef Goulash, the meat was not edible, it was tough and fatty. My wife ordered the Salmon tartare which is made with smoked salmon, not as good as fresh. I did not want to complain or cause a scene and about a week later I sent an email, to which I received a completely inappropriate reply. I spent a lot of francs to have a poor meal. I gave the owner a chance to respond. His reply was insufficient like his over-priced dog food. MacDonald’s sauce in the Tartare is not my idea of high cuisine either. We came for an afternoon drink on a hot day with my elderly mother. We got a round of drinks then went down the lake for a quick swim while leaving mum for 20min sitting comfortably in the shade. The staff refused to serve her another drink as they were "only doing dinner orders from now on"... it was 5pm. We originally thought spot we would come try their food one day since it was such a nice spot. Will certainly never be back. Who refuses to serve a drink to an already paying customer at 5pm on a Saturday? Rude and greedy staff. This is not Annecy it's La...
