Don't be deceived by the name. Even though the name literally means : "House of Children", this is a restaurant which is, by the way, severely inadequate for children. Even worse when mom groups on Facebook recommend it for a place to take the kids. There is a minimal "play corner" with three toys right next to the bar and the door, which makes all waiters cranky as they have to walk around your kids should they desire to play there. Literally, 30 cms by 30 cms play area. That's it for a "House for Children".
Now the menu. Please, skip it. Way overpriced. Not only that, Swiss food is not noted for its culinary merits, but here, it's like the chefs are at war with food. Everything was overboiled, flavorless, dunno, as if they wanted to kill the carrots twice. Just, inedible.
The pasta was passable if you ignore the fact it was, like everything else in this restaurant, way overcooked. I guess the children sort of ate that. But it was a bit sad that even the "children's menu" was a plate 3/4 full of vegetables not even an adult would touch, let alone a child.
So we got a plate of overcooked pasta, overboiled vegetables, a chicken leg (overboiled that one too), a sausage, and a "pumpkin soup" which was basically simple pumpkin puree from something that was not a fresh pumpkin (because it tasted canned and artificially sweet) with some pumpkin seeds thrown on top for the spectacular price of 50...
Read moreIt is a chalet, but not for kids. We have tried it several times, but now we will never go back.
The very small play corner inside is unsafely close to the bar and walking lane for staff and customers. Toys are old and unsuitable.
There are way too many tables in the dark room with low ceilings. The goal is here to make money cheaply. Cheap sugar on the table, cheap milk cups, cheap tea bags. I won't complain on the price but what you get is just not right.
Staff is ok, there are high chairs and the cakes are good albeit always the same.
The entrance on the dishwashing corner is weirdly placed, probably they do not want to invest.
There is now a new vegetable garden, but you cannot enter without making an appointment. Who would do that??
And there is no playground or so for the kids, which would be easy in the forest.
All in all, if you are in the third age and have no kids, go for a piece of pie. If...

The atmosphere is cozy and peaceful, perfect for a relaxed evening away from the city. I started with the chicken salad, which was slightly salty but still fresh and flavorful. The highlight was the beef steak cooked well done — easily one of the best I’ve had in Switzerland, perfectly tender and seasoned. Finished with a chocolate fondant, which was good though not exceptional.
Service was friendly, and the overall dining experience felt authentic and warm. A great place for quality Swiss food in a countryside setting — ideal for both casual dinners and special occasions.
