My two daughters and I went there today and experienced the same hostile attitude from one of the waiters. As it was provided as an option and since we could not get a waiter/waitress to attend to us, we used their app and placed our order online. It was taking awhile for the order to come and so we followed up with this waiter. All he could tell us is he knows nothing about our order and could not help us since we didnt place the order with him (but thru the app). We didn't argue with him and waited. One of the orders came and when we asked him again about where our small soup buffet and small salad buffet were, he snapped at us and begrudgingly told us where to go. Their app said our orders will be brought to our table. We just assumed the same was true for the soup and salad buffett. I admit I should have known that we needed to get it ourselves but I wasnt sure where to go. There was no help at all. I went to the salad bar and picked out a plate which I thought was small (it was small by US standards) but which ended up to be medium size. I also picked up a half a slice of bread with orange marmalade. When the waiter saw what I got, he yelled at me again and said the bread and marmalade is not included and that I have to pay an additional 1 chf. The salad plate I got was medium so I also need to pay 4 chf on top of the 5 chf I already paid. As if we have not suffered enough humiliation yet, this waiter scolded us again for getting soup buffet twice. Soup buffet means you have to get it yourself and you can only have one serving. It's not about paying for the food that I have issue with as I immediately paid him even while we were still eating. It's the condescending attitude of this waiter. He made us feel like we were stealing from them. I thought maybe I'm just so used to the highly professional and amiable waiters/waitresses in the US that this kind of attitude bothers me so much. I heard from another group of people who were there at the same time we were that they also had a similar incident with this waiter. The food was not even great. I had a medium buffet salad for 9 chf, 2 cups of soup for 16 chf. I got better pictures of the mountains outside as compared to the ones I took inside the restaurant. Skip this restaurant and enjoy the view outside. There are better places to eat when you go down the mountain in Murren. If I could give a negative rating for this place, I would!! I will never come back...
Read moreThe rotating restaurant which is located at 2970 metres above sea level and where one of James Bonds movies was shoot a long time ago is popular with tourist. I would rather call it the restaurant on the top of the world above the clouds with nothing but blue sky’s. The view from within the restaurant provides a 360 degrees view of the snow clad mountains all through out the year. As for the food and the environment it is good, although on the expensive side, the staff speak English, so it is easy to communicate. Getting to the Restaurant, please buy your tickets before hand or when buying at one of the counters please be as clear as possible where you like to go, as prices of ticket vary. Once you get to the train station Lauterbrunnen, make your way to the entrance to the cable, you will see the cable car going up, so cross the road and make your way to that entrance. Guys, it’s no shame to ask for directions when you are not sure, this will save you money and more importantly time. Please note that you should keep all your tickets at hand all the time as you will be required to scan to enter the premises. Nevertheless, there is always a person to assist at the entry point, in case your fully paid ticket doesn’t work. People are always rushing so be mindful of kids and senior citizens. To get to the restaurant you will need to take the cable car to Grutschalp (1486 metres), take a tram ride to Murren (which is the second and last stop before it makes its way back. After exiting the station take a 10 to 15 minutes walk while enjoying the scenery towards Birg Schilthorn at 2677 metres. This is a 6 minutes ride up the cable car to the Swiss skyline, Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau. In winter the final cable leaves at 4.55pm, so be sure to make your way before that time. Enjoy the scenery and be careful at all times and obey all...
Read moreAvoid at all costs. First, the customer service was disappointing if not disrespectful. We were waiting around as one of the only customers in the building, yet we still had to fetch our own waiter. After a rude response from a waitress she retrieved a waiter who took our order. As we ate we were not checked on once by the wait staff. This is poor customer service that could be expected from a less expensive place but $25 for a burger and $6 for a water bottle, it is expected to be higher. The food was an utter disappointment. I would not feed it to my dog. The burger was as plastic as they come with a bun that tasted stale. I am not sure what the meat on the burger but it was certainly not ground beef. I’d rather not know. I’m not a sauce person so I did not get a chance to disguise the taste with the provided sauces, which they give you plenty of. Further, the 007 imprint on the burger was distasteful to the movie as a burger made in that quality deserves to never be served let alone at such an incredible area with breath taking views. I never leave a unfinished plate at restaurants but guess there is a first for everything. Avoid the tourist trap until both management and waitstaff goes through proper training and considers there...
