1881 Kantine — Restaurant in Luterbach

What an absolute joke of a place, but in no way humourous. This place is a disaster from the second you arrive, and if my experience was anything to go by, it shall be an early exit. The service was about the worst I have ever experienced, and believe me, that is some accolade. The staff were beyond useless! They were never around to provide any service, whether it was in order to place a drink, or waiting nearly an hour before someone took it upon themselves, to clear our dinner utensils, prior to the next course. The money these fools charge for such a service, and the attitude of the sour faced, ignorant, unhelpful staff, is beyond all human comprehension, that they still have employment in this arena. My advice if you want to eat in this village, is to cross the Aare as there is a much better establishment, just north of it. Avoid this hovel like...

This brand new hang-out has an interesting little detail in every corner while paying homage to the history of the area. The atmosphere is rustical-schick and cool. Run by a couple with an excellent reputation in the area, the food is also top, while remaining casual and not too expensive.

It may not be in the center of town, but they’re working on a boat shuttle from Solothurn. I can’t wait to try that out.

Tip: behind the 1881 Kantine is a large complex of rooms and tunnels to explore. Also across the river (walk towards the towers) are more bars and places to explore.

Plan a few hours...

Es war für uns eine neue Erfahrung gewesen, nachdem wir bis 2000 mit dem Attisholz zu tun gehabt haben, aber dies ist eine lange Geschichte. Der Eingangsbereich sowie im inneren Bereich des Restaurants wurden einladend eingerichtet. Wir wurden sofort vom Personal empfangen und zum Tisch geführt. Dann wurden wir auch gleich gefragt ob wir ein Apéro möchten. Da habe ich gemerkt, hier funktioniert der Service. Obschon ich beim Eingangsbereich gelesen habe, dass die Gäste vom Personal mit "DU" angesprochen werden, ist dies eine sehr heikle Situation. Wir sind uns dies nicht gewöhnt und meine Eltern kamen mit dieser Situation nicht zurecht. - Das Essen wurde sehr schön angerichtet und hat auch sehr gut geschmeckt. Was mich verblüfft hat, ist der Burrata; welcher sehr gut war; auch die dazu grillierten Tomaten wären sehr gut gewesen, ich hätte hier aber das Fruchtfleisch entfernt, damit die Tomaten ein richtiges Grillmuster bekommen hätten. -Die Weinkarte auf einer Weinflasche fand ich sehr originell. Da aber viele Leute nicht die besten Augen haben, würde ich es gut finden, eine Weinkarte auf Weinflasche mit Weißwein und Champagner, usw. und eine zweite Flasche mit Rotwein; so kann man die Schrift vergrößern und die Gäste können es besser lesen. Es sind also zwei kleine Punkte, die sich das Personal anschauen sollte und ohne Probleme umsetzen kann. Ich empfehle Jedem, das Restaurant "1881 Kantine" zu...
