This is a family run hotel with an excellent restaurant. I stayed in May when the weather was already good for hikes. The rooms are large and confortable with en suite bathrooms. My room had a view of the gorgeous green fields ahead with herds of cows munching away. At night you see the stars and hear the cow bells. A highlight is the restaurant. The breakfast is a feast of local produce with delicious yogurts, cheeses, freshly baked bread and coffee. It set me up for the day. I also had dinner at the restaurant, which was brilliant: simple local food prepared with care. Try the local beers and ciders (with and without alcohol). This is a family run business that is at the heart of Swiss culture. Refrain any imperialist urges you may have and respect the kind and reserved Swiss culture. Waren heute in der "Chäseren" ob Schönengrund zum Abendessen. Nach knapp 2-jähriger Schliessung hat nun dieses schöngelegene Restaurant / Hotel wieder offen. Hatten per Internet reserviert. Hat reibungslos geklappt! Gemütlich eingerichtete Stuben laden zum Verweilen ein, und die Aussicht von hier oben ist fast einzigartig. Zum Essen: Als Gruss aus der Küche gabs eine kleine Schale Älpler-Magronen mit Gemüsestreifen. Sehr fein. Nüsslisalat mit Knusperspeck und Toggenburger Bloderchäs, frisch und geschmacklich aromatisch. Salatsauce wird seperat in kleinen Bügelflaschen gerreicht. Käsesuppe fein abgeschmeckt mit Mostbröcklitoast, gut passende Kombination. Hauptspeisen von Cordon bleu, Kalbsleber mit Rösti oder Rindsfiletwürfel an Kräutersauce, aber auch Vegi- Gemüseteller mit Salzkartoffeln, frisches Gemüse richtig gegart, alles fein abgeschmeckt. Hier wird mit Liebe gekocht. Aus der Dessertküche kommen verschiedene Coupes aber auch tages-aktuelle hausgemachte Frucht- oder Schlorzifladen, und weitere Klassiker wie Caramelchöpfli, und und.... Wonderful stay at this lovely hotel in beautiful, tranquil surroundings. The rooms are cozy, clean and spacious. The staff is incredibly welcoming and warm, and the entire family felt at home.
