Gasthaus zum Schloss Falkenstein — Restaurant in Niedergösgen

This was my first time to the region and to this restaurant. Within close access from Aarau and the A1. Ample parking available in front, a nice porch area covered by trees providing shade in the summer time. Although located near the main street through town, relatively quiet and a soundscape suitable to have a conversation without interruption. From a friendly welcome by the server and attentative service, it's available but at a distance and not interrupting, great personnel. We did not opt for the house specialty, the Schlemmer Buffet "à discrétion" offered here, very reasonable priced in my opinion and served at the table during the week. Ordered a la carte the "Rindsfilet „Stroganoff“ instead - although we received input from the waiter, somewhat unsure just what to expect with the «Schlemmen à discrétion» and if it would be far above and beyond in quantity or variety for a dinner later in the day. The wait time for the dishes ordered to arrive was absolutely fine. A good kitchen is recognized how the food is served (covered), appears on the plate (nicely arranged, clean edge of the plate too) and that the plate is heated but not scorching hot so you burn yourself moving the plate - all well done and nothing to complain about. Finishing out with a dessert and an espresso, served with the house specialty cake which is packed up to go if you dont touch it because you are full, nice touch and special or above and beyond as it is not charged for. This area is somewhat in a distance to where i live but i sure will make plans to return someday soon again. You should try this...

Introduction: My son and I went out for dinner recently.

1. Starter Buffet: Rated a 10, the buffet was extensive and really delicious. There was a wide variety for everyone.

2. Fondue Chinoise: Another 10. The mix of veal, chicken, beef, veggies, sauces, and french fries was great. It's a complete and tasty dish.

3. Dessert Buffet: This also got a 10. They had a good range, including sorbet, a chocolate fountain, Tiramisu, fruits, and cakes. Each dessert tasted fresh.

4. Service: They earn their 10 here. The staff were friendly, attentive, and polite. They even gave us some cake to take home, which was a nice touch.

5. Ambiente: With a rating of 9, the place has a beautiful terrace. The view of the castle in the background added to the experience.

6. Price: It was on the higher side. We paid 200 CHF for both of us, but given the quality and experience, it felt worth it.

7. Room for Improvements: Didn't find any. Everything seemed on point.
