Adler — Restaurant in Oberriet

Visiting from the U.S. I went for lunch here with my mother. There was one very friendly and cheerful waitress, and another one, who looked and behaved like she'd rather be somewhere else, a bit impatient, and a bit snappy... that's the one who served us. We looked into a menu that seemed to be more for dinner, than for lunch guests. However, we ordered the 'daily menu' of what's generally called 'Schnitzel/Pommes Frites' in Switzerland. The meat was excellent and cooked to the point, so were the fries, even the veggies were excellently prepared. Unfortunately, vegetables and fries were a bit bland. However, when the chef came to ask if it was all right, he took my judgement of the undersalted sides with a smile, and agreed. (Well, it would have been nice to make up for it, maybe by comping us the drinks, but I still ate the food, so he's not to blame!) He's friendly and polite, with a good sense of humor, and I enjoyed and appreciated the quick chat. Why didn't I give more than 3 stars? Because of the grumpy waitress for one... and because it's not easy to walk a handicapped older lady 20 or so steps down and back up to the restrooms. (I asked, and these were obviously the only powder rooms).

(And don't make any mistake: the food is quite costly. You really pay for what you order. Still, the chef knows what...

Fui con mi marido y mis dos niños a cenar el 15 de Agosto de este año y he de decir que ha sido el mejor sitio donde hemos comido de todos los que hemos estado en Suiza. Aunque llegamos un poco tarde para cenar, no nos pusieron ninguna pega. La comida estaba súper buena. Disfrutamos muchísimo comiendo. La muchacha que nos atendió fué muy agradable y simpática y el señor que había allí ( no sabemos si era el chef o el dueño ) era muy agradable, simpático y atento y chapurreaba un poco de español. Se acercó a nuestra mesa un par de veces para preguntarnos si estaba todo bien ( refiriéndose a la comida ). Me hubiera encantado volver más veces pero por nuestra ruta por Suiza no pudimos, ya que los demás días nos pillaba bastante lejos. Probamos la pata de pulpo y los mejillones y estaban riquísimos, jamás los he comido tan buenos. Que pena que sea de España y no pueda ir a menudo a comer...

Sensationell Wir waren heute auf einem Ausflug beim Adler zum Mittagessen. Obwohl wir erst 10 Minuten vor Schliessung eintrafen, hat uns der Chef zugesagt noch etwas für uns zu kochen. Wir haben uns für den Wochenhit entschieden (Suppe, gem. Salat, Entrecote, Gemüsevariation, Kroketten und dazu einen feinen Kaffee). Das Essen war sensationell gut und reichlich, die Bedienung sehr schnell und äusserst freundlich ebenso der Chef. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältniss ist nicht zu überbieten, einfach sensationell. Schade, dass es so weit weg ist (180Km), wir würden gerne öfters vorbei kommen. Nochmals allen einen herzlichen Dank dafür, dass Sie ein Teil Ihrer Mittagspause für uns geopfert...
