Steakhouse Central — Restaurant in Saas-Fee

Steak tartare - which is one of their specialties according to the menu - was possibly the worst rendition of this dish I’ve had the misfortune to try. The meat was fresh, but bland, textureless and just painfully uninteresting. 1/3 of the dish was textbook canteen garnish, yes, shredded carrot on a leaf of lettuce and drowned in salad dressing.

I also made the mistake of ordering their green salad. The dish they served me was a plate of chopped iceberg lettuce topped with 3 leaves of romain lettuce and all drowning in a puddle of their ‘Italian’ dressing.

Honestly, why do they bother? - it’s like going back to the 1990s when nobody knew any better.

Why 2 stars? The first star was because it’s the minimum score. The second star because service was efficient and polite. I ordered a Negroni and disturbingly was served something long and red. I asked if they’d added soda - they had, but to the servers credit she quickly replaced it with a proper Negroni. Well done for...

Ja... 5 x Licht, 1x Schatten. Wir waren 3x dort Essen, während unserer Kurzferien. Am ersten Tag gab es Wildschwein für mich und Pferdefillet für meine Frau... Ausgezeichnet. Bin dann beim 2ten Mal auch auf das Pferdefillet gewechselt... Hervorragend.

Am 3ten Abend ging leider meine Portion irgendwie sehr schief. 2 relativ dünne "Scheiben" Fillet waren im Nu durchgebraten auf dem heißen Stein und einfach nur noch trocken. Bei der Portion meiner Frau waren dickere Stücke drauf, die waren gewohnt gut. Zuvor waren es immer ganze Fleischstücke, welche innen immer Bleu bis max. Medium wurden (also voll mein Ding)

Anzumerken sei, dass das ganze Saastal von 16.00 bis 17.30h ohne Strom war und da vieles hecktisch war. Auch war die Bude am Freitag-Abend total voll.... Trotzdem hätte ich einen Check vom Chef erwartet...kostet ja auch was, dort zu speisen. Hab trotzfem alles brav gegessen, weil ich gegen Foodwaste bin. Fotos hab ich keine gemacht (also nicht dokumentiert)

Den angebotenen Trost-Kaffee haben abgelehnt, da ich da nicht auch noch einen Kaffee drübertrinken wollte.

Soweit mal mein Statement. Schade hatte das am Schluss mit den Einzelstücken das für mich bis dahin perfekte Gastro-Erlebinis relativ nachhaltig getrübt...
