Terrible picture, but the only I have. Hope you can look past and see the decor. If you are in the Saas Valley this is a MUST. Reserve early!! Not a well kept secret. We have a tradition of visiting here once a year in ski holidays with a larger group. From Saas-Fee you walk down a romantic well groomed and lantern lit path through the forest to this restaurant (wear appropriate clothing and footwear). We continue down after to Saas Almagell where we stay. The decor, staff, kitchen, selection are top. There is also a side bar completely decked with rockabilly decor for a pre or after treat. Great for kids, they have rabbits and guinea pigs in large room on the side with glass wall for viewing. I haven’t been in the summer, but have been told by many that the views and terrace atmosphere are stunning and you can also see their camels. I have yet to see them.... Menu provides a medium sized selection of house made Swiss, local and seasonal specialties. We usually take something from the “wild” selection (venison, boar etc) or beef cuts. Side dishes and sauces ordered separately (ie gratin, fries, mashed etc). Salad selection is excellent as is the aperitif, digestif and wine selection. It’s a yearly treat we look forward to and will never opt out of. It looks empty in the photo because it was taken 10 minutes after they...
Read moreFantastic meal for whole family. Excellent setting. Great view outside. Lovely decor inside. Brilliant animal pen inside behind a glass viewing window and kids play room filled with toys and books. High chairs too. Outside there was a swing (still usable in winter), seesaw, and slides. The hot stone where you cook your own selection of meat at the table was lots of fun (hilariously you had to wear a material bib). The venison in red wine devine. The lamb in a stone pot was delicious. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Able to advise which items were dairy free with lots of options. Kids meal selection fabulous with colouring page and pencils. The homemade chicken nuggets and pomme frites a winner. The movenpick sorbets in alcohol was refreshing. Sadly the apple strudel not the best, cold and not the best flavour but it looked pretty. The walk there along the pretty snowy path from ski field took us 30minutes with our elderly granny. Taxi back to saas...
