Café Restaurant du Soleil — Restaurant in Saignelégier

We decided to stop last minute at Cafe Restaurant du Soleil and this was a pleasant surprise. The place itself looks lovely, very simply, but captivatingly decorated with a beautiful natural light inside durin lunch time. The service was great and kind too, quickly attending us and taking our order. Regarding food: this is an area that could still improve, they are heading in the right direction. I had salad and chicken, salad was very good - bread could have been better considering all the good boolangeries you have around - I'm always surprised when bread is not good in a restaurant in Switzerland. The main dish, the chicken was delicious and perfectly cooked - however, the pure and the rest of the vegetables was a rather strange mix of flavors and felt rather unbalanced. I ate the meat with its surrounding sauce, but not the rest, even if I tried. Might be a personal taste, maybe you will like it, for me it just felt and unbalanced dish - though very well presented. This is not to stop me from returning or trying again as the place was indeed very inviting...

We went with friends during a VTT week-end, we were very well received and we spent one night in their rooms, very nice rooms in the hotel itself. We came back one week ago and our room reservation was moved to another place working with this hotel called hotel des artistes. The rooms in the hotel des artistes are not the same as the chambers in the hotel of Soleil. They are clean, but small and from another time. We have not been informed about this down grade and we were asked to pay the same amount of money for the room in the hotel where we booked originally. After complaining we had a discount of 10 CHF, that was not acceptable for the given service. If you have a room in the Soleil hotel it's great, if they ask you to go the annex...

I highly recommend this place for a wonderful dinner after a refreshing nature walk.
