MAORI — Restaurant in Schlieren

First of all the ambiance of this place is excellent. It's intimate and cozy. We dined on the patio which was well decorated with palm trees a pacific islander theme and contemporary themed Hawaiian music . The serve was fair we waited a while for our appetizers and longer for our mains (15 minutes in between) but the waitress was kind and courteous. I ordered the gentleman's choice my companion the surf and turf. Both meals were well prepared and served hot. I would suggest trying the sweet potatoes fries..They were delicious. This place is perfect for a first date, girls night out, a business lunch/dinner or anniversary or birthday. In fact there were two birthdays that took place during my visit and Maori was kind enough to deliver each patron a birthday cake with sparklers and a happy birthday song. Now came the bill. It was roughly 300 francs for two people including to cocktails. Kinda pricey. Ok really pricey. The other negative was the 'gentleman choice' steak is not $75 as advertised but actually $150! Apparently it's per person even though I alone ordered the meal. If not for this unfortunate surprise I would have given 5 stars. Be sure to verify the TOTAL price of your meal with your server...

we went to MAORI in April as a 4 adult party and 2 young kids. i know that being from out of the country Swiss prices offer a shock but this place takes the cake! in itself that would not be too bad if the food was worth it. in our opinion it was not and we would not return. the menu is very large and confused, its not possible to offer high quality items from so many different types of cuisine, japanese teriaki, thai pad thai, indian tandorri. we ordered the surf and turf platter. the chicken was dry, the tuna cold. we didn't even finish our food, which is unusual. to be fair, 2 folks in our party loved their food, i guess different palates and...

Der erste Eindruck.

Ein kleines Stück Hawaii mitten in Schlieren. Ich hatter die Salmon Poke bowl zum mitnehmen. Während der kurzen Bestellzeit konnte ich etwas von der Atmosphäre dort schnuppern. Der Aussensitzplatz hat wunderbar gemütlich ausgesehen. Alle gäste sahen sehr entspannt aus. Ich werde mir sobald als möglich die Zeit nehmen um dort einen schönen Abend zu verbringen. Ich bin sicher in den warmen Sommarabenden, vergisst man dass man in der Schweiz ist und eben doch nicht auf Hawaii. Aber das macht nichts, das ist wohl der Zauber welcher dieses Lokal zu einem ganz besonderen Ort macht.

Die Bowl

Das war meine erste Poke Bowl überhaupt. Ich muss sagen, sie hat wunderbar geschmeckt. Der Reis war auf den Punkt genau, perfekt gegahrt. Der Lachs, wunderbar rosa, frisch und von feinster Qualität. Die Marinade war mir persönlich etwas zu dezent. Einen tick kräftiger wäre eine wunderbare gaumenfreude gewesen. Das ist jedoch nur meine persönliche Meinung. Dennoch, alles hat geschmacklich wunderbar miteinander harmoniert. Keine Zutat had geschmacklich überwogen. Ich fand die Bowl wahr sehr schön und liebevoll angerichtet. Die Farbenfrohen und frischen Zutaten sahen sehr apetitlich aus. Kompliment an die Küche für die tolle Arbeit. (ich hoffe im maori lesen sie das)

Mehr als nur Gastfreundschaft.

Hervorragend. Ich wurde vom chef de Service (ich nehme an er ist es) sehr freundlich begrüsst und meine Bestellung wurde sofort aufgenommen. Keine 10 Minuten später, war das Essen auch scho bereit. Leider wurde während des wartens die Autobaterie vom laufenden Kühlwagen lehrgesaugt. Nach dem ich vergeblich versuchte den Wagen zu starten, habe ich kurz im Restaurant um Hilfe gebeten und der Chef de service war promt zur Stelle um starthilfe zu geben.
