Hôtel Restaurant du Cerf — Restaurant in Soubey

What a disappointment!! After 18km hike you get Soubey and the only restaurant ONLY serve Vegan! The only reason you are making money is because there is no other competition. TOTAL FALSE ADVERTISING! The pictures of Fish and meat dishes are from the previous owners. PLEASE remove this and CLEARLY state on the menu that you are vegan only as it is INowhere clear that this is a Vegan. Three of us ordered burgers as it was ‘clear’ that this was a meat dish- which it was Not! And when pointing it out to the owner she thought it was real funny - which it is not. The Menu gave no indicator that it was Not meat - it was CHF21 waste on a bland, tasteless bun with some sort of nut-bean mix. I was hungry and still did not finish it.

Today, when a restaurant does not include a dish or too for Veggie/Vegans, it’s considered politically incorrect- how can you own the only restaurant (next one is 5km away) and not have a single meat dish on the menu - in an area know for outdoor sports - and find that okay?

The interior is still the same as it was in the 70’s (as per one of the owners). I am just so glad we did...

Two of us hiked from Goumois to Soubey. This is the only hotel in the village and I was not sure what to expect as some previous reviews are not very good. However, on seeing the room, I was pleasantly surprised - small but spotlessly clean, quitet & comfortable with a sink. Hotel has a nice terrace & is close to the river Doubs & has adequate parking. We had dinner there & it was good, although quite expensive for what we had. ||||The room we chose was without ensuite bathroom, there was no TV and no WiFi at all in the hotel. This came at SF 120.- for the night with a simple breakfast. We were quoted SF 150.- for a room with private bathroom. At dinner, even though we ordered wine & coffee with the meal, we were charged SF 1.50 for a jug of tap water,not much, I know, but nevertheless, why do that?? ||||Having lived and travelled in Switzerland for many years, my conclusion is that this hotel is absolutely fine for a night's stopover but definitely...
