Restaurant Mamasan — Restaurant in Vernier

I treated myself while in Geneva taking a French language DELF exam, and Mamasan did not fail to impress!

Pros: -The food! From the presentation of the shrimp balanced on the halved spring rolls to the formed and shaped rice to the fantastic array of flavors. I ate it all: 3 courses paired to a beer and a coffee. I went too far and ate too much, but have no regrets!

Cons -The staff, though kind, seemed to forget about me as the dinner rush manifested itself. It was as if their attention was always on whomever most recently arrived and those who were settled just had to sit and wait and not need anything else. You may have to wave them over. -I wouldn't call this cheap, but it's Switzerland pricing so just enjoyed.

General thoughts: Located close to the train station and near many hotels, but not beautifully positioned with a water view or anything. I think it is located in what is the unofficial red...

Only giving 1 star because it's not possible to give Zero stars. Absolutely awful experience at Mamasan today. I had to wait and ask several times to even be offered a glass of water - much less order anything. Starters took a long time to be delivered. My lunch companion also had to ask several times just to be served a glass of water. After requesting many times to be allowed to order, we eventually gave up. Waiting almost 40 mins and not even ordering yet at lunch time especially is ridiculous. Staff were rude and dismissive. Even when paying the bill, they were rude to us that we were leaving without ordering a main course (even though we asked several times, different staff and kept being told to wait, over about 25 mins). I've spent time in Thailand and had almost given up on finding authentic Thai food, or even anything spicy, in Geneva. I recently dined for the first time at Restaurant Mamasan and was very pleased I felt like i was in Thailand. All my favourite ingredients were there - galangal, cilantro, lemongrass, coconut, peanuts, and of course, hot pepper.
