Restaurant Pizzeria zer Bircha — Restaurant in Visp

Our main dishes were near perfect and so were the desserts. We especially enjoyed the spaghetti carbonara, the pizza quarto formaggi and the tiramisu, which we even liked better than the ones we ate in Italy the last couple of weeks, so that truly impressed us :)

Regarding the service and atmosphere ratings I feel some perspective is in place: The weeks prior we spent our meals on several picturesque Italian lakeside (hotel) terraces with beautiful lighting, well maintained gardens, flourishing flowers, staff wearing suits, some guests wearing gala dresses and the whole shabang. With Zer Bircha we sat on a roofed terrace located directly next to a busy street through a kind of industrial area; the staff we saw for the majority of the time was one girl and she did ok, but it's difficult to compete with a team of pros :) My son (6) was pointing out other guests were smoking cigarettes around us, but as there were large ashtrays on the tables, I told him that this was probably still acceptable in Switzerland, whereas in most countries, people don't smoke where children/ people are having dinner. Fantastic service and food. We do not speak German or French, and did struggle with the menu. Elizabeth and her colleague were great in understanding what we wanted to order, and even went above and beyond to serve us. The delicious custom made pizza for us was served with chilli oil. Ich weiss nicht, wie lange die Betreiber schon die Zer Bircha führen. Aber dieses Restaurant war für uns eine ausserordentlich positive Ueberraschung. Wir essen nun regelmässig hier zu Mittag. Die Menus sind immer frisch und schmackhaft, auch mit Italienischen Kreationen, die wir nur noch von früher vom Mario Badji in Visp kennen /z.B. Pasta an Tintenfischsauce. Es gibt aber immer auch eine sehr gute klassische Menuvariante. Wir sind glücklich, wieder einen echten, richtig "guten Italiener" in der Gegend gefunden zu haben.
