Hotel Breiti — Restaurant in Winkel

Mediocre hotel, but unfortunately one of very few choices in the depressing rural town of Winkel. Its sole redeeming factor is that it is one bus ride away from Zürich Airport.

The room was dusty and when I first arrived, I was kept up most of the night by a mosquito. I enjoyed the thickness of the covers (perfect for a winter's night), but I was there in August, and on some nights, it was quite hot. On my third night, I managed to kill the mosquito and finally sleep without an itchy, buzzing disturbance. Removing some of the water features in the hotel's yard (which consist of coffin-shaped troughs full of standing water) would both beautify the premises and reduce the presence of mosquitoes in the guests rooms, I imagine.

The hotel itself appears to function primarily as an event venue, and getting through the various dining rooms and conference centres to get to the guest area was a nuisance. Despite the building being rather small, it is labyrinthine, and I found myself having to choose between walking through an ongoing event or taking routes through the loading bay, through the kitchen, and through the restaurant to get to my room. This didn't bother me too much, but I'm pretty sure that at least 2/3 of my routes ought to have been prohibited to guests (I.e., I should not be able to walk unsupervised through a restaurant kitchen while it sits empty and unlocked). Unfortunately, at times, that appeared to be the fastest way to get into my room, especially when an event was going on or when the loading bay was in use.

The hotel itself closes at 10 pm, at which time the staff lock all the exterior doors and leave. This is OK for a guest who already has their key, but if you make the mistake of checking in late, you will be in trouble.

As a final note, the hotel does not offer breakfast, free or otherwise. There is a devilishly overpriced grocery store across the street, along with a bakery selling dry-looking pastries.

If you have enough cash to stay in Zürich, I would recommend doing that. Nothing in Switzerland is cheap. Might as well get ripped off in a nicer place...

We wanted to pass by to have some dessert. It took nearly 15 minutes before we were given the ice cream menu. No one bothered to ask if we wanted any drinks. We then saw on their website that their regular menu card included other desserts such as apple struddle and tiramisu. We then ordered ice cream and an apple struddle. The dessert arrived after 30 minutes. we noticed that other customers who had ordered after us received their desserts much quicker..

Then when asking for the receipt it took 10 minutes to get back to us, because the waiter was waiting for the dessert of another table to finish and hand out.

The only words we heard from the waiter that night were "have you found something?" and "thanks, bye".

i hope the reason for not being treated with respect is that we were the only asian family sitting at the restaurant. i felt like we werent taken seriously or that the other customers were more important than us. 1:15hrs to have an ice cream and a struddle.

This 1 star goes to the worst service that i have experienced so far. i myself have served at a restaurant for 3 years and always treated all customers with the respect...

Schlimmer Restaurant Besuch den ich je erlebt habe. Restaurant halb leer 2 Kellern, Wir haben unsere essen bestellt nach über 1 Stunde Wartezeit, informierten wir den Kellern das wir die Getränke zahlen und gehen. Er sagte nein nein es ist fertig Nudeln machen geht so lange?! Normalerweise sind Nudeln das schnellste Gericht. Anstatt sich zu entschuldigen wollte er diskutieren und sich rechtfertigen. Essen war fad und stosst mir bis jetzt noch auf. Kellner räumt ab obwohl noch nicht fertig gegessen war. Wir haben ihn informiert das es nicht schmeckt. Anstatt Entschuldigen beginnt er wieder zu diskutieren und sich rechtfertigen. Forderte die Rechnung ein mit Karte er legt wortlos die Rechnung auf den Tisch ohne EC Gerät und lief davon. Wir müssten rein gehen und bezahlen. Nicht einmal ade sagen könnte dar arrogante Kellner. Das schlimmste ist der Unfreundliche Kellner ist der Cheff. Empfehle niemanden dieses Restaurant aufzusuchen der eine Dienstleistung oder...
