Marco Polo Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Wohlen

Caveat: I only had a drink here, so cannot comment upon the food. However, others have commented in the positive, so it is highly likely to be as good as they say.

I came upon the place when I was in Wohlen with a couple of hours to kill, while I was waiting for an item to be delivered to a local supplier. My mobile phone was low on battery, so my first question was “do you have a seat with a power socket nearby”. This request was enough to be refused service at another local bar, which was empty anyway, with not a single soul in the place, which is probably indicative of the way that they treat their customers in general. However, my reception at Marco Polo could not have been more different.

From the moment that I walked through the door and through the thick heat-retention curtain, the atmosphere of the place was warm and friendly, and the welcoming smile of Jasmin, the young lady behind the bar, was even more warm and friendly.

First question: do you have a seat with a nearby power socket? “Yes, just over there”. She even pulled out a power extension block from a cupboard, to make it even easier for me ✅

Second question: do you have a local beer that I may not have tried before? “Not local, but we have a naturally cloudy beer from Wallis”. Great, thanks! I’ll try it! ✅

Poor cellular reception inside the building: do you have Wi-Fi? “Sure! Let me type in the password for you” ✅

And the beer came with a complimentary bowl of peanuts, still in their shells. Another thumbs up for customer service ✅

In the hour that I was there, waiting for the confirmation that my item had been delivered to the supplier, I had a second beer, and during that time, there was a steady stream of people of all ages coming into the bar, until all of the tables were full. This is a lovely restaurant in the heart of Wohlen. The atmosphere is nice and the old pictures add to the unique ambiance. It was particularly good to be able to have a dinner outside after the Covid measures were relaxed. The staff was friendly, helpful and wearing masks. The safety requirements were also observed. Keep in mind that masks are currently obligatory for the customers outside of the table. Service was fast and the food was good with an accent to the far east. A very positive experience...

The restaurant has just been newly renovated. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The food arrived pretty quickly even though the restaurant was quite full.
