Restaurant Hintergeissboden — Restaurant in Zug

A new team has taken over the restaurant January 9th, 2025 and has done a got job to deliver excellent and friendly service right from day one. Off course the menu was still reduced (no veg, just a single desert) as the team had to listen to their customers first what is demanded. The atmosphere is welcoming and easy going. Tables and room 100% clean and well decorated. And the food - althoug simple cooking - was absolutely delicious with a special touch that signals that the cook must be a 5*-chef. Because of the wonderful wether the restaurant was busy and crowded and maybe staff has not yet been that much organised as required (still working out final setting and best way to operate). Many nearby local guest are adding to the Swiss-feeling here. I am looking forward to come back again and to check how wonderful it must be when everything is settled and all the team is living up to its full potentail and well orchestrated service one would not expect at such a location. Despite speaking fluent Swiss German, I was repeatedly addressed in High German, and at times, in a condescending manner as if I didn't understand. This made me uncomfortable and was clearly a result of my appearance not aligning with their expectations.

Delicious simple food in a lovely setting with a great view. Touched by the generosity of the people there. We arrived famished from our hike and discovered it was cash only. Had cash enough for one order only - figured the two of us would share. The lady just matter of factly put two trays with two orders down in front of us.
