We found this cute place by chance. We were starving after a morning in Alishan National Park and saw this on the map on our way back to our accommodation. We stepped into a warm and cosy cafe, welcomed warmly by Nick. He spoke good English and is very knowledgeable about coffee and food in general! We had such a great time chatting with him about coffee and trying the stuff they sell/make in the cafe. Every item has an intimate and thoughtful touch to it, from the salad dressing/vinegar to jams. We consider them some of the best we have tasted! Nick runs a small B&B just beside the cafe. He generously showed us around the B&B. We were so impressed and awed by its interior. It is a modern and cosy B&B with views of the pine trees outside. It was misty when we visited and the views looked like calligraphy portraits. There are a few cosy stores around the B&B. Alishan is a must-see in Taiwan and the railway (slow) trains from Chiayi to Alishan will pass by this small station called "Shi Zi Lu Station". The trains only pass by the small station 3 times a day, so you won't be affected by the passing train noise. Instead, you will get to witness the passing train up close for 2-3 times a day! We will definitely go back to Alishan and stay at Mingxin...

My daughter also got an apple juice made from Japanese apples - she loved it :) he even let her use the toys at the shop. Such a cute place - highly recommend! They also sold plums that were freshly picked from a farm haha. They do have an airbnb as well. We didn’t stay but it looks super clean and...
Read moreBeautiful coffee and in such a cute location up on the old railway. A bit hard to find if you’re in a car but easier if you park at the bottom and walk up the stairs to the railway. We also had the noodles and omelette which were so delicious and filling, with fresh vegetables the Aunty bought from her garden. The owner/barista was very friendly and happy to explain the local coffee, even though we only spoke English. Highly...
