We had the best experience of our 10days trip in Taiwan here. It was our first time in Alishan, and we had walked in last minute to this place as our original booking elsewhere was not up to our standards.
And the service here has been the best we've ever had! The owner was very friendly and understanding with our situation, offering us to view the rooms if we were hesitant about the quality. The rooms were great, with air-conditioning/heater and all the other amenities you would expect of a 3 to 4 star hotel. He specially put us up in a room so that we could catch the sunrise right out our windows. On the spot he gave us an affordable package for the room with breakfast and dinner included. When he learned that I had pancreatitis, he had the kitchen specially prepared food to help ease my attacks. On top of that, he also shared how we could enjoy Alishan and the rest of our trip's itinerary, which was really helpful as it was our first time there and we were driving in foggy mountains.
This is a family run business that has been around 40-odd years, and you can really feel the heart that has been put into building up and running this place. The rooms have a homely, traditional oriental-ish type of vibes, perfect for the Alishan setting. There has been efforts to upgrade their amenities e.g. japanese-style bidet toilets, and their hot water supply is fast, with good pressure on their taps. Great hair dryer too.
The food, as other reviews have said, are very fresh. It is all farm to table - including the tea and coffee that they serve and sell! Their farms can be seen around their location - just ask the family and they'll show it to you!
We had great conversations with their family in our 3d2n stay there, and it was a very intimate experience to get to know the history behind the hotel and the care they put into farming their crops, tea leaves and coffee. Every morning and evening, the boss insists on letting us drink their freshly brewed coffee and tea! If you're a coffee and tea lover, do give it a try and you can even buy their freshly roasted beans and leaves to bring back home.
Needless to say, we'll be back again. We drove this time, but I've also learnt that there's a bus stop right outside their hotel, near the 7-11. If you're looking to experience true, homely Taiwan-branded hospitality, do give this...
Read moreThe room is not very big, and the facilities are a bit old, but it is clean and tidy. The most special thing is that there is a private terrace. Watching the sunrise here is a first-class enjoyment. Unfortunately, the weather is not beautiful. In the early morning, the dew is everywhere, and the visibility is only a few kilometers. Ruler, not to mention the sunrise, you can't see things that are a little farther away. We chose Chinese style for breakfast, which is very rich and delicious. In addition, the owner of the hotel is hospitable and very talkative. When checking out, he gave us tea grown and baked by himself as a gift. It is a hotel worth considering when...
Read moreGreat location and lovely staff, but underwhelming for the price. The location is excellent, and the staff are genuinely kind and welcoming. That said, for the price, I expected more. The room felt very basic—almost clinical—with just two bags of tea and a couple of IKEA-style cups. No extra touches or decorative effort. Breakfast was disappointing as well; everything was already cold, and the selection was minimal. The day before, we stayed somewhere for half the price and had a breakfast that was twice as good. Nothing was bad per se, but overall it didn’t feel like good value, and we likely...
