Such an amazing hidden (but not unknown) restaurant. Deep in the mountains and requires hour own car transportation to get to. When we were there, a big bus load of people just arrived but the big bus dropped them off quite a ways away and they had to hike up to the restaurant. We had an amazing lunch with the pre ordered plum chicken as well as veggie soup, pork leg and salty pork pieces, salted egg tofu, and pineapple shrimp (fried shrimp in tempura) with mayonnaise on top. Every dish was on point and even the rice was amazingly delicious. The sauce from the chicken was so good we had to order extra rice to finish the sauce. The view from the front of the restaurant is just out of this world. We were away from the tour group and there were only two tables at this separate building in front. You have to take your shoes off and leave it outside. Good thing the monkeys not the chicken are not into shoes because they were roaming around the restaurant. This restaurant is my too 10 favorite places in the whole world. Highly recommended. There is no way to get a table without a reservation so reserve early! Prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and view of the restaurant. Worth...
Read moreReservation is a must, its up in the hill in a very secluded area, kind of steep drive. We were there at 1pm and the parking lot was packed, so was the restaurant. I absolutely love the old style deco and open table arrangements, you have to take of your shoes to enter the dinning area, 5 of us would have been fine with the $1800 set menu, but we ordered extra tofu and stir fried vegi and that was kind of too much, our bill came to $2500. The food was so......good, especially the plum flavor chicken gravy went well with rice. Its has an amazing garden with free range roosters, monkey and full pond of colorful fish, we took a lot of photos, the bathroom is decent but outdoor. I must return again with...
Read moreProbably one of the best and most popular places for Roasted Chicken in Hualien (or even in Taiwan). The restaurant was built on the hill from where you can overlook the whole Fenglin town for great night views sometimes with a train shuttling thru. The roasted chicken here is definitely a must. The Bitter Gourd pickled with plums is unique and refreshing. Fried Bird-nest fern is also impressive (available in winter only). There are some "copies" of this restaurant nearby since this places was closed for 2 years. Make sure you come to the right place when you are looking for the most authentic and the best...
