This restaurant is not on the main road that leads to 溪頭. It is on a smaller side road that runs parallel to the main road. But for those who know this place, they know it's well worth taking a road less traveled.
We found this restaurant by chance because I missed a turn. And ever since, we've been to this restaurant about 5 times during the past 2 to 3 years. We always find time to come to this restaurant whenever we visited central Taiwan. We just drove from Taichung to this restaurant, ate and went back. We didn't even bother to visit 溪頭 which is almost all visitors go if they come to this area.
Food is excellent! Every time, we always ordered 4 to 6 varieties of 野菜, and 2 to 3 pork-based dishes like 控肉 and 鹹豬肉. We have yet to eat an entree that is bad. They are all delicious, and at worst, not bad.
My relatives, who goes to 溪頭 hiking almost weekly and they've tried many other more famous restaurants along the main road, also think this Zhu Zhan's dishes taste much better than those...
Read moreThis place is fantastic! The food is incredibly fresh and flavorful. While you browse the menu, enjoy some complimentary plum tea. I highly recommend the oolong chicken—absolutely delicious. Although it's a bit of a drive from our hotel, it was completely worth it. The green vegetables are also a standout, and we were pleasantly surprised with free sweet potato fries, which were a unique twist from the Taipei style.
